Cotton Duck = My denim encylopedia

The image they used for the base is the cover of a reproduction/reprint of an 1908 Sears Roebuck catalog!

I'd post a pic of mine but I'm not exactly at home...

Instead I found this:

Meant to do this a lot earlier, but anyways here are the fabric samples for posterity although a bit hard to see, admittedly. I can also copy the brief descriptions of each on here by request if needed...

Since you offered... could you post a brief description of each? at least of the indigo denim fabrics?

Late pass, thanks Jinx for the information and pics. Especially liked the picture of Ryo and Hiro in Tokyo. :)

Question, any idea where they get their denim from? They must have a fairly large stock of a huge variety of fabrics given their swatch book, plus they have all the shirting, jackets, coveralls, etc...

Would love to see their archives, saw some snippets of old newspaper clippings with ads for denim pants in them, always enjoy such stuff.

Also, huge props for being so thorough with their details and pocket flashers, tags for their sample swatches...

Sorry bout for the slow reply, I guess I missed this earlier! I'm on a different laptop than what I saved the file on but I'll try to post some info soon. It was pretty basic though, just stated the ounces, selvedge color and Left hand/right hand twill info...

Ooe is so cool...I'm going to put an order through soon so I'll let you know how that goes. In any event, as proof of their superior customer service, I recently requested a sample of 4 different types of denim (#'s 13, 14, 23, 41). They sent it last Thursday and received the samples today FREE OF CHARGE! The way they present the samples is also pretty damn cool...

As for the fabric samples themselves, if anyone was interested in them particularly, I would say #13 is the most "accurate" of the 4 if you're looking for something with the same texture as vintage pieces. #14 is nice as well and I'm guessing has great vertical fading properties. #23, I'm guessing is their slubby denim and is full of unevenness from what I could tell. And finally, #41 is a beast...very smooth and apparently their heaviest and darkest denim with hair to match.

Honestly I'm a bit overwhelmed at my decision as it's obvious that all of Ooe's fabrics are quality. I'm leaning towards 13 & 41 but damn, it'll be a tough decision...

Ed, any updates on your pairs? I'm guessing it'll take a few more weeks though...Also, which fabric #'s did you go with? I'm still having trouble deciding on mine, even with samples in front of me...13 just sticks out for me, but the feel of 14 is just right...and yet the slub of 23 lures me in...decisions decisions! It shouldn't be this hard...haha

they told me they were sold out of no. 13. I'm kinda bummed, based on what you said about the vintage quality of it. That is kind of what I was looking for.

Wow, awesome stuff. Their website is really neat, too.

I'm a big sucker for this pair:

Seconded.

LVC have occasionally done versions of their 1880s duck pants, some of which were terrific, but I love the simplicity of this pair, the kind of dead-basic work clothes, without a yoke or other complications, that inspired all early jeans.

A couple of comments on the denim samples I got - the no. 41 is reaaally dark. The weft threads are almost completely invisible from the front and the warp threads are dyed deeper than the other samples. Also, no. 43 seems very very similar to the Warehouse 1000XX denim. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it is the same denim.

ive never seen a label so personable, and customer-friendly. and the product seems top-notch. almost like bespoke jeans. im faschinated by these two dudes. who else would send dozens of samples(great for patches, btw) without $ changing hands, and send you a pic of them making your jeans? im sold. i cant wait to get some $$$. id recommend these to anybody.
