The trend of houndstooth is on a downward slope in terms of popularity. Once Target starts selling it then it's downhill from there.

Houndstooth is a fine line.

I feel like It's really important exactly how it's used, the size of the pattern, and how strong the two colors contrast against each other.

99% of the time i think houndstooth is over done, but there's times where it's really nice.. I love it as a hidden accent on anything from purses to jeans, and if done with the right colors and size it's great on a shirt.

I think most of style is a fine line. You can do something well, or you can do it over the top or badly just by missing the mark.
