ahh, the white mountaineering stuff looks so nice. it's such a pain to be confronted with these brands that are so unattainable.:(

Two things,

Can anyone show fit pics of the Russell Safari boots (or the NDGxRussell shit...you know...with jeans and proportion and what not)? Haven't seen one yet menothinks.

Secondly,

http://www.contextclothing.com/item.php?id=504

What are those boots?

Doctorgnar (or was it RBW?) posted a waywt with the NDGxRussell and Bill posted one with the Russell PH 2s I think. Actually I can't remember if Bill did a waywt or just a Stronghold post on them... PM him and I bet he'd take a pic for you.

Also I believe a couple of the dudes from Context post here, username is Sam something. PM him or just email context and they'll most likely be able to give you info on those boots, they are helpful guys.

Look like McIntosh Birdshooters (http://www.russellmoccasin.com/boots_birdshooters/bs_mcintosh.html) with some kind of lugged sole. I dunno.

Limmer Boots - The great Daiki Suzuki brought these to my attention in his recent feature on GQ's website about his "10 Essentials"...

http://men.style.com/fashion/10_essentials/091508

Made in the U.S.A. (New Hampshire)...they seem to have a grand old reputation with backpackers and whoever else alike.

That being said, from those pics, I don't think they look bad at all (except the bottom "ultra-lights"...the sole paired with the boot's silohuette reminds me of some Mountain Gears...insulting, I know)...kinda like some Vasque Sundowners with a bit more "mountaineering" added to the program (and sole). The "light-weights" (3rd) are appealing IMO due to the less-bulkified sole.

Not as headspinning as the Russell Safaris, but I can definitely see why a Japanese American Workwear/Mountaineering fanatic such as Mr. Suzuki would dig 'em.

there was a pair of black limmer standards in my size on the bay a month ago but i passed, they don't pop on there much

they are probably too much boot for my life, even the mids are perhaps too hardcore for me

it'd be like commuting to my job in a sherman tank

limmer is mentioned a few times early in this thread

Thanks. Yes, I know the merrells have a good price, but I have heard stories about the glue dissolving and the soles coming off way to easy. The Alico's have a very good price though, they can be found for around 150 dollars I think on sierra trading post.

A lot of these boots are being made with vibram soles or other adaptations ,mostly for the japanese market, as well.

Bumping this bit back from the past. I'm kinda diggin' these:
