no idea, i think because the OG came out on VHS in like 92 then the dvd just recently came out in 04, in addition it's by some japanese people so maybe it's a rare to them somehow now it seems it's a collector items of sorts? the animation is mostly why i got it, certain scenes are done really well, plus i watched it like 10 times as a little young buck, so now a decade later pretty cool to see it again, prob one of my top 5 movies.

I'm suprised it's so expensive with a dvd release. I still have mine from childhood and love it (same with the video game). I might have to pickup the dvd one of these days. I think i played the video game as a child before seeing the movie. Nice pickup regardless. I wish i had a vhs player to watch it though.
