it's interesting how much less the show is about the mystery - as in there's way less theories being presented, and now we are just being presented with a lot of answers (eg 'why is richard so young')

I do love the alternate story line tho - who knew that so many of them would have kids (jack especially) and how much they end up interacting in the 'real' world

I was talking about this with my friends last night and I'm wondering if everyone that Jacob touches now can no longer kill themselves and will stop aging like Richard. My friends think this is true, but I don't think that just because Jacob touches someone necessarily means that. They brought up the example of Michael, who in the past could not kill himself after several attempts.

As for the blackmail issue, I'm with you guys, Ben should wait until (or rather if) Alex gets into Yale and then hold up the Principal later. By the way, who thought Alex and Ben were going to make out?

Where is Jin?

Is Whitmore going to take Sm/ocke and crew off the island?

^lol I also felt that sexual tension on screen with Ben and Alex...

I'm completely lost on which side Widmore is on...A part of me really wants to believe that Jacob was expecting Desmond to come (Wallace name) but we'll see about that

Slow reply but in regards to Ben, in the end he realized he doesn't care about the power as much as being good/helping Alex...and he gets what he really wanted in the end anyways when he "blackmails" the Principal to get the History club back up at the end of the episode...Redemption!

^yeah it was a nice parallel, chooses alex over power in the sideline

it was a cool episode, i found alex's acting way overdone though. answers one question wrong when she was studying with ben and ' wahhhi'm gunna fail! its only my future! my mom work two jobs! how i pay for college! how i get in!' i guess they're not used to giving background information about a character without the luxury of a full flashback episode

It is good to see ben being ben again, i hated how lame he got. He was so large and in charge when we first met him, take away a mans confidence and this is what they become.

This last epi was the best so far this season to me. We are getting more and more built up doubt that Jacob is good, i like that. Miles continues to be one of the best characters, i like that a lot too.

Widmore seems like he could be good, but who knows, he is a jerk.

It's pretty clear in my mind that Jacob is closer to "good" than MiB/Flocke/whatever you want to call him...His side offers redemption (Ilana and "I will have you" as opposed to Flocke lying to Claire etc. to get them on his side...Redemption vs. empty offers) and while there are gray spots, I think it's fair to say that neither is perfectly good or perfectly evil...

aho seems right in that point... that she will have ben shows good vibes.

also if you look at flockes crew and the people on the beach, i would much rather be on the beach being happy to see jack and hurley than killing a ton of people in a secret temple.

thinking back on how flocke got ben to murder jacob it feels a little weak... just me?

Some good stuff as usual on the EYE M SICK blog...

"The Man in Black told Ben he was gathering a group on Hydra Isle. It reminded me yet again of The Stand, where Randall Flagg gathers an army of darkness in Las Vegas. Ilana will presumably rally the forces of light on the Island. On that note, I completely bought Ilana and Richard's despondence at their abandonment by Jacob -- further proof perhaps that the latter would have preferred not to die. At some point, however, Team Jacob will row over to the Hydra. When they do, Ilana will spot the canoe containing the '77ers from when they flashed through time. She will fire at Locke, thinking he's the Man in Black, thus solving the mystery of the outrigger shootings.

And that brings me to one last whackadoo speculation for your pleasure. The Man in Black claimed that, when his group departs for good, he wants to leave Ben in charge of the Island. I strongly suspect this was a lie designed to manipulate Ben's desperate thirst for power. Still, it go me thinking. Stephen King references aside, why did the Man in Black designate the Hydra as his rally point? Wouldn't it make more sense for him to establish a base on the main Island -- e.g., in the Temple or the Barracks? Then it hit me. Maybe the Man in Black plans to sink the Island, bringing Crash and Mirror realities into sync. "
