i cant hate on pritchard at all. he put together a young team thats deep after taking over the jailblazers. he put the blazers in a position to win for a long time. at the time oden was the missing piece for the blazers. they needed a big and drafted one. just too bad for him that he keeps getting hurt.

it was exactly what i was hoping petrie would be able to do with the kings and so far this season its looking like were on the right path.

same thing can be said for the thunder. sam presti has the thunder looking young and winning.

what are both the kings and thunder missing? big men. i guess the same can be said for the blazers since oden cant stay healthy. well kings are missing a real pg too but thats for another post

I see what you did there: trying to pretend "better fit" is synonymous with "scores more points." But it's not.

D-wade would not be a good fit, so you would rather have Darko milicic ? ok then.

and on top of that hes played 82 out of a possible 240 games (assuming he doesnt play the rest of this season).

you're right: pritchard should have known that oden was going to blow his knee up, twice...

I mean I'm more than happy to debate whether or not Oden is "a bust" (though I'd be happier to debate it at the end of next season) but if you watched him play this season it's pretty clear that if he's going to end up going down as a bad decision it's not because he's not kevin durant, it's because he has some fucked up knees.

also: was it just me or was kobe's heel clearly out of bounds on that final shot against sac?

yeah but that's the thing, the job of a GM is to make the right pick. Obviously its not Kwame Brown, Michael Olowokandi or Sam Bowies fault they were drafted #1. GMs / organizations are still blamed, despite the fact that they were #1 on every mock draft in the country (exaggeration). They get paid millions to make that decision so its on their shoulders. Does anyone really care that everyone thought Sam Bowie was supposed to be good ? no, they only care that Jordan became one of the best players of all time.

the kings have Spencer Hawes and J Thompson, they just need more experience. Beno Udrih is ok, really like Omri Casspi (homo). The thunder need a post player, Jeff Green isn't really that guy.

JT isnt a defensive presence. Hawes is turning into another Brad Miller, rather shoot 3's than play in the post. Kings need a low post presence and a defensive shot blocker

hindsights 20/20 so you cant sit here and say you would have picked durant first if you were the blazers GM. same can be said with the grizzlies picking thabeet #2 this year or the knicks passing on jennings for hill. shit happens and thats why they get paid a lot of money to be GMs. their heads are on the line to make the right call and if they dont they get the boot. (i.e. zeke in NY, matt millen for the lions)

u mad ? Kevin pritchard also drafted greg oden. Go on and tell me how hes a better fit than Durant, keep lying to yourself.

I dont really follow the blazers but even I know why the blazers drafted oden. He was bpa, he was a beast in college, nba sized body, they needed frontcourt size, they had martell webster, outlaw, and roy they didnt need another sf/sg.

sad to say, they should probably trade him. he was a good fit when durant was slotted to be at sg, but since durant is more comfortable at sf, green gets pushed up.

Don't know if he should be traded but he's not a PF and Durant isn't a 6"10 guard either.

re: DaBestSpoona and chantheman

No, i'm not going to say I knew Durant would be better and that Oden would be injured all these games. But like I said, its hard to overlook Jordan whenever you talk about Bowie (not to compare). I would always go for the sure thing rather than need or potential. Scorers and Guards in general usually have a better transition to the NBA than big guys. In the last decade I think every 1st pick besides lebron was a Center/PF. Griffin, Oden, Bargani, Bogut, Howard, Yao, Kwame Brown. 2 out of 9 are all stars and the 6 out 9 (excluding Griffin since he hasn't played) have been outplayed by a lower pick and probably would be traded for that lower pick without much thought. Obviously this is just imo.

forgot derrick rose

i get what your saying, but if you get that dominant big man with the #1 then you are set for years. its harder to find a legit big and when you have one you are an instant contender. is it worth the gamble, its up to the GM and based on the last 10 years it seems to be the consensus to take the gamble

2002 only Nene or Amare would be worth trading for Yao and even then a healthy Yao is better than either one of them.

for me, the proof that pritchard is doing a good job comes back to what started all of this draft talk: "b.roy and a bunch of nobodies" are beating up on some elite teams. Maybe Oden was a bad pick, only time will tell, but it's clear KP's plethora of good decisions outweigh his potentially few.

(oh, and I fully count Andre Miller coming to portland as a bad decision. I love the guy, and I know our record wouldn't be what it is right now without him, but I think at the time he was picked up it was unnecessary and sent the wrong message to the team in terms of the expectation that they would be making a deep playoff run because of the addition of one guy)

Playing with Jason Kidd made him look much much better than

he actually was and made him earn a ridiculous max contract

that a player of his caliber doesn't deserve.

He basically lived off running the fastbreak with Kidd and his limited

post moves and declining athleticism and unfortunate injuries exposed his true flaws. Not to mention his rebounding rate is one of the worst

in the NBA at his position.

you could also say he pulled a Larry Hughes\Eric Dampier
