what are you eating today?

Had a whirl at making our own burgers over the weekend. Got some nice lean minced beef. Used oregano, red onions, dijon mustard, a dash of ketchup, egg, chopped fresh chillis and parmesan for the patties.

Made some handcut chips using new potatoes to accompany the burgers...

Boiled for 10 minutes or so...

Drained...

Then shallow fried until golden brown

Best chips I've had in a long time, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Tempted to triple cook them next time, by putting them in the freezer for a while, then taking them out to refry for extra crispiness.*

End result... with just a slice of processed cheese on top. Thought I'd keep it simple...

Though the lady decided to decorate hers with some home grown cherry tomatoes

Just went down for dinner at Hawksmoor Guildhall: rose veal tartare, rock oysters, lobster cocktail; bone in Hereford sirloin, roast Sutton Hoo chicken, bone marrow gravy and triple cooked chips on the side; '02 Crianza Gravonia and '05 Perrin & Fils Vacqueyras. Boys sent me and my brother out a Zombie as big as your head as a digestif

If all the junk food on this thread was as good looking as what Vampy posts, fine, but apart from Rirawin, Dismal and a couple of other contributers this deserves to be moved from culture into trash. Would feel less compromised posting this if I didn't spend so much in restaurants I could afford a camera better than my blackberry to post with, but still, should be titled what are you eating today not what are you merely ingesting. Step up.

last few pages also should have mentioned fine posts from ironman, wild bill and catchforusthefoxes. Such a delicate but enormous line between good looking stuff that enhances your understanding of what other guys are monstering round the globe, and what some of you drab motherfuckers are rustling up with the menial aid one saucepan and a kettle whilst high.

Rirawin, how was Borough? Did you make it to Maltby? Please set the tone here.

i'm equally as interested in what people are eating at home as what they're eating out

i personally never take photos when i eat out, exception being a no flash one to send to a friend to inform him that i'm eating something that he is jealous of. it seems classless to do any more than that. hypocritically though i do love seeing other people's photos of food.

what does it matter to you?

i think the dude's just not interested in pics of random grub

i like to take pictures of good looking food when im at a restaurant cause i use a point and shoot and it takes like 2 seconds. also like looking at food pics.. but if the restaurant has shit lighting or the food just looks like shit but still tastes amazing i don't even bother

i like seeing the pictures of weird homemade shit personally... gives me an idea of what some of you are willing to put in your mouth (can i pause?)

Been getting into the habit of using my little Canon p+s to take food pics. Used to use my iPhone but the quality is so terrible, and it makes the camera sound each time - a real camera is so much better. I also don't bother unless the food looks nice.

what I am eating lately though; nice bread plus this:

^you know you can turn the sound off, right?

I take pics of my food if it looks good (which to me means it looks like it tastes good, not that it's been meticulously sculpted) or if it's delicious, because I like to remember (maybe corny, don't care). Usually use my phone but if I have a camera with me because I've been walking around with it, I'll use that.

I almost never take photos at very nice places because a) if the restaurant is really good, then the experience is more than just the food and I don't want to interrupt it, and B) sometimes it's dark.

Not to waste a post on dumb words:

Fondue-bread pudding inside a pumpkin for Halloween.
