Walked by Ryan Gosling outside Uniqlo in New York back in April 2007. I was with Sidneylo at the time whom was squealing like a little girl saying "Oh my god it's Ryan Gosling!" as he was walking towards us, I exclaimed quite loudly "Who the fuck is Ryan Gosling?", Ryan heard me as he passed. I turned around to see who Ryan Gosling was/is, and at the same moment he looked back at me, we exchanged glances and at that very moment my heart skipped a beat. During the same trip, saw Mickey Rouke on the corner of some street near Marc Jacobs.

When I was working in Size? Birmingham in 2007 Timbaland came into the store asking if we had any Nike's in US size 13. Unfortunately we didn't, but he still stayed and chatted with us for 5-10 minutes.

LA 2008, Nicole Richie walked by while I was standing outside American Rag, we exchanged stares. She went to one of the cafes next door to grab a takeout coffee or something. A swarm of paparazzi then showed up outside moments later, having just missed her...

Paris 2009, Hiroki Nakamura at at a private Visvim presentation. Had a personal guided tour of the Spring/Summer collection from the man himself. As we arrived he offered us drinks, we asked for sparkling water, which they didn't have, so he sent one of his minions to a local Parisian store to get us a few bottles of San Pellegrino. After the presentation we headed to Colette, on the way we went by Goyard where we bumped into and chatted to Daul Kim, my friend who works for iD/Dazed and Confused knew her. She was really cool and down to earth, shame, RIP. Stopped off at Chanel where we saw Kate Moss and Jamie hince sipping on champagne. Kate Moss was trying on a full length fur coat, asked for a photo with her and got denied. Anyway finally reached Colette where Karl Lagerfeld was overseeing a collection there. We asked one of his aides if we could take a photo with him, he just told us to ask him ourselves, so we did, he obliged and managed to snap a pic.

In London I've seen Mick Jagger with his partner l'wren scott in DSM doing a spot of shopping.

Lower end of the scale, February this year, Whizkit and I walked by Fergus Henderson taking a fag break outside his St John's restaurant. Also saw his wife who own's Rochelle Canteen in London grabbing a few drinks at St John's bar with friends... quite surprised to see her pull her purse out when the bill came.

CSB etc.

Talked to Joel Madden and Nicole Richie a couple days ago. Have met them before, both are really nice and their daughter looks just like Nicole. Joel is a cool guy, talked about clothes, music and good places to stay in LA... real chill.

i met joel a number of times years ago, cool guy talked and music and clothes, would always come in to the shop i worked in when he was in auckland.

was at cancun last week and stopped by luxury ave. Stopped at an audemars piguet counter and decided to check out some watches. There were like 5-6 dudes trying on some watches and I kinda forced my way to take a look. They all stared at me and moved away. Tried on a watch and the sa asked if i know who i was standing next to. so i looked over at the group of dudes and realized it was miquel cotto and his posse.

...he was wearing red crocs.

...and has a stuffed mario charm on his backpack.

here in nyc, celebs are so plentiful so there are actually 2 levels of randomness that can occur with celebrity sightings:

the first is the obvious (not random at all) celeb sighting:

like when tom cruise came out of the stage door with nicole kidman (back when they were married) when she was in a broadway play. you go see her in a play, it's likely other celebs will be there

Another example on broadway -- I almost knocked over Anna wintour when I came out of a play starring Ben Stiller. I was turning my cell phone back on and I wasn't watching where I was going so when i saw a shadow in front of me, i barely stopped within inches of plowing her down. she gave me the look of death like "filthy commoner! get out of my personal space!"

another example of this type: ended up sitting next to Enrique Iglesias when I was watching Anna Kournikova and Martina Hingis play at the US Open, true it's a "sighting" but it's sort of expected.

The 2nd type is the truly random, unexpected surprise celebrity sighting. My favorite of all was sitting in the booth next to Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman at the Corner Bistro one Friday night at 4am. Also liked running into Marc Jacobs at the gym.

I had a burger with Akon the other day at The Counter in Hollywood...well I was having a burger and Akon came in and sat next to me.....on the other side of the glass wall.

Spotted Andy Milonakis a while back too. He had a group of bitches with him. Playa.

Don't know if this counts, but also the white Odd Future dude. He's always around.

Same dude that does Joel's hair, does mine.

Saw Spike Lee twice in like the span of 30 minutes while walking around Manhattan.

Back in Middle school I shook Ric Flaire's hand and got an autograph. Dude has GIANT hands.

Went to a Element skate demo back in like 4th grade. Got a high five from Bam Margera. Mike Vallely pointed at me before he dropped in, that made the 10 year old me feel pretty cool.

Nothing much happens here.

White Stripes at the Red Dragon bar rail.

Janet Jackson while installing doors at Lifetime Fitness.

Lots of Josh Hartnett but he's a local dude anyway -- first met him at the MOA theaters circa The Faculty and bs'd. Ran into him a few times with Scarlett Johansson. Took the third seat at me and my buddy's table at the last Rakim show, disguised in a watch cap and clear wayfarers.

Craig Finn and Tad Kubler are always down for some bs, from back in the days of the Lifter Puller shows.

sat next to jerry rice during lunch, table separation wise. i figured i throw him a curve ball. rather than speaking about football i complemented his dancing with the stars gig and discussed different grains of rice. he's really nice and funny.
