I've been reading the new Stephen King novel and the way he writes teens is weird. The book takes place in now-a-days and they say things like 'gnarly' and the parents try to relate to them using video game terminology (this is not a game - you won't lose hit points!!). Also a girl held her hands between the new nubs of her breasts.

I can't say I don't like it.
