Michael Mann must have been a pretty big influence on Nicolas Winding Refn when he wrote Drive. A lot of similarities particularly in the lighting during some of the driving shots.

it's ok. i guess average if not disappointing. i haven't read the source material, but i'm a huge cronenberg fan and he does a good job. i think the whole movie is pretty badly miscast though, except for sarah gadon.

cronenberg is god. he was good in nightbreed too.

I agree on the casting, but I couldn't find that many good things about Cosmopolis even though I really like Cronenberg?

While the dialogues were interesting enough to make me want to take a look at the book, the way there never seems to be a quiet moment and the less than stellar delivery make them become quite annoying fairly quick. Some things are funny in a dumb way (medical exam!), and when the actors shift positions in the limo for the 20th time without any reason to get a new angle, the camerawork does not look so hot either.

After A Dangerous Method and this, I get the feeling Cronenberg has lost his touch.

Somehow did not get around to watch this until now. Although in cinematic terms it's a bit like a mash-up of Seven, Chinatown, and a touch of Irreversible, I enjoyed it a lot.

Good shit though. Holmes looks like a cross between if my goddaughter was a dude, and Spike from Cowboy Bebop.
