i dont think one miniscule post in the 'trash does this justice... but i just went to chocolate sunday at the laugh factory on sunset for my friends birthday. not only was ludacris smoking blunts in the audience, but at the end chris tucker came out and did a thirty minute set... neeedless to say me and my white friends got ripped on all night, but it was so money.

Last night I did one of the dumbest/greatest drunk things ever. I managed to tell some kid from school a 30 minute long story about my cocaine habit and how it ruined my life as well as the relationship with my family.

i'd really like to learn turntablism. i just really wanna learn how to DJ and scratch and assemble awesome stuff. i got really turned onto club music and DJ stuff recently while in europe, and this board so graciously introduced me to a world of electronic music past daft punk and all the early set. i friend burned me a shit load of ed banger records stuff and im really digging the sounds, and one of my brothers best friends is a DJ with a regular radio show at NYU. im just digging the whole concept of it, and i'd really like to learn it. not saying its easy, but im musical enough to learn the basics. any suggestions from turntablists/DJ's out there on where to start? gear/musically/anything -wise.

im gonna go write 10 pages of government notes while i ponder this.

my uncle used to dj when he was living with my family. i must've been 10 or 11 when he was mixing in my gameroom. he'd mix depeche mode with chemical brothers. micheal jackson with REM. he started with hip hip, moved to trance/house/ then euro type of music. he's been the main influence in my music ever since. got me into mandalay, wu tang clan, thievery corporation and got me foot in the door to lounge music. hell, majority of him got me where i was today.

anyways i'd say if you want to start djing i'd say buy some Techniques Turntables they should run bout 100 or 200 a piece. a mixer which is really where you should invest in the most. my uncle got a great one for bout 500 but that was a decade ago. then get the records which i'm not sure but they round bout 5-$10 a piece. someone correct me if i'm wrong on the prices. but from my knowledge the mixer is your key instrument. all you gotta do is mess around with it for a couple of weeks and you'll get the hang of it. personally i say its an expensive hobby but it's well worth it.

cool, thanks, i was thinking of just hooking together some lower-end, but still nice turntables i have (they were from sears like 6 or 8 years ago, so their not ghetto thrift tables) and just buying a nice mixer, but im broke as a joke right now. plus, i'd have to invest in some speakers and then the records are a killer. but maybe after i graduate high school i can pick it up for the summer as a hobby

on the senior note, i started my senior year today. get over it, its gonna suck, but just suck it up and deal. i have a shit transcript but im trying to salvage it with this year, despite my complete and utter dislike of school and the environment around me. give it a couple weeks before you make any solid choices, and watch Superbad, it'll cheer you up.

mann, if we're talking about senior year of high school that shit was a blast. i only graduated a year ago, but i basically had three periods in a row that were actual classes with material that needed to be completed. after these id have off campus lunch which basically turned into marijuana hour since the beginning of the year. came back to school, had film class (our teacher was a mob flick enthusiast, all the godfathers, casino, goodfellas etc.), then i went straight to advanced placement art and i was outro. i mean, when im high at home im either watching movies or drawing anyway. on the real tho, the shit played out like a movie daily, try your best not to pass it up...

i got my hair cut today, first time in almost 8 months. my neck feels so much lighter, and my head isnt as hot anymore. im probably gonna wait awhile before growing it long again

he shook hands with another kid with a green day american idiot back pack, thug jeans, and some all over print shit. i must say, im in heaven.

senior year's first priority should be getting high, second priority showing up to english when your teacher knows your blown. intertwine the two as best as possible.

naw my senior year, piano test i fukin studied hard for that shit and and we did it by order of last names and my test fell on the last day of school and i already had plans to blaze that morning, i still fuking did it and played my piano final fuking stoned, it was the entertainer and i fucked up bad
