A little history to this belt. I ran my first solo 100 mile race in 2007 in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It was an almost purely trail race with a fair amount of elevation gain and loss, so all finishers who completed the race in under 24 hours (something like 40% dropped out and most finishers were over 24 hours) got a commemorative belt buckle ornamented with black hills gold. I wanted a belt to go with it that was also handmade in the black hills, so after I finished the race in under 24 hours and got my buckle, I stopped at a little leather shop in the black hills and picked up this belt. It's not like Tanner quality leather or anything, but it's got some really unique history to me and I wore it like crazy for a few years with a handful of different 100 mile buckles until I finally retired it. It used to just be solid black on the outside and tan on the inside and here it is after somewhere between 500 and 1000 wears:

Take it or leave it, but I think the wear is pretty cool after that much use and beyond that, I'm really proud of what this symbolizes for me.

Here's a very interesting leather Unlucky was nice enough to share with me :)

Brain tanned horsehide, deadstock (tannery closed down long ago).

Made into a hip pouch, lined with pig-skin...US postal style.

Leather feels like buckskin, with more density to it.

Incredibly soft, but tough as hell.

indonesian has more supple leather while american is stiffer.

for its color, american has more brighter & warmer color than indonesian.

we here are still trying to bring a good quality leather goods and reasonable price for overseas customer :)
