wowsers! that is nuts shipping! I'll weigh mine on monday and figure out the actual price, if it saves you money I could do a proxy service. Unless anyone knows the weight of trickers boots off the top of their heads.....

pre-sufu pair of shoes in need of desperate style makeover

the shoes: mephisto abel - pretty good quality and comfy, but quite puketrifying in appearance

seeking recommendations (shoe polish, shine, treatment, coloring, or other alterations) as a last ditch effort to save these from the guillotine

I have a question about Alden indy sizing...

I wear a UK 8 1/2, 5 or 6 width in Trickers. I could get away with 8 if its a 6 width according to the man who measured me. How do the Alden indy's come up in comparison to Trickers? I'm really tempted to pull the trigger and order online direct from Alden. $300 plus $50 for shipping is not so bad.

Japanese love trickers so much, its ridiculous. They love trickers more than brits love them.

Datasupa those are pretty ugly. I would tell you to toss them except for the fact that they are mephisto and are probably pretty good quality. you can try messing around with a dark brown shoe polish on the toe area to get some fake paul smith/ndc type antiquing. I would not toss them though, for they are mephisto.

Fre$co,

Alden Indy’s are on the TruBalance last which runs a half size big by US standards. Which is to say, if you’re normally a 9 ½ US, then you go with a 9 for the Indy. The UK 8 ½ is about a 9 ½ US, so I’d say a 9 would be right. Width-wise, the Tricker’s 5 is “normal†= to a US “Dâ€. The 6 is wider = to a US “Eâ€. You’ll need to decide which is right for you. Hope this is helpful.

Others may also want to contribute on this.

Thanks for the info Leicalad. Helpful indeed, I think people say that trickers run a half size big too so I guess converting the size across to US directly should get me the right size.... I wish there were somewhere in London where I could try them.

i think you can get a better deal if you call up one of the U.S. stores and have them shipped to you. $300 is a lot for indy's.

On the subjest of Alden Indys, does anyone know how the sizing of the Frye Brando lace up boots compares to them. My Indys are 10.5 and fit perfectly, just curious what size I might want in the Frye lace ups...any help appreciated.
i want both of these shoes...

from the frye page

A small amount of heel slippage is normal with new boots. It will gradually decrease as you wear them.

Many people have one foot that is slightly larger than the other.

If your foot is between sizes, we recommend you order down a size.

If no wide is available, you may need to order half size up.

When you receive your boots, try them on in the afternoon, as feet tend to be largest this time of day.

Try your boots indoors on carpeted surfaces and wear the socks or tights you would normally wear. Make sure you can wiggle your toes.

Datasupa; I'm sorry my friend, they are unsaveable (is that even a word?). Terminate them immediately.

I have the Indys in a (edit)10D and just got a pair of the Brando lace-ups. The Brandos are slimmer, longer in the toe, and super tight at the arch of your foot (right at the very bottom eyelet).

I have a pair of Frye harness boots in 10.5 so thats what I ordered in the Brando, but they were really big and I ended up ordering a 10 and sending back the other pair. It's sort of a strange fitting shoe.

shiiiit, those'd look great without socks.

i can't find them on the fabfour online shop.

Yeah, I sort of breezed past them when I was busy fantasizing over Fab Four stuff, but I went back and checked them out here after I saw the more detailed picture.
