Not those (although I would mind them ) - I have a pair of single-stitch 14 oz and a ghost-armor 18 oz from a couple of years ago on-hold because of the Roy x Cone contest. Would love to break my Oni's in properly over 2012.

The 14 oz one is so good for the Aussie Summer, that loose-weave is incredible.

I know Oni info. is hard to find, but here's what I've managed to fish out from Japanese stockists in the past couple of years...rather long & tiresome read if you have no interest in Oni though:

They don't have an official website unfortunately - it's part of why I wrote that rant, so little information is available to the consumer.

I plan on wearing mine again in 2012 - outside of working hours that is. This year has been none stop Roy x Cone for me.

@ lc: I guess they gotta do what they gotta do...that product wasn't aimed at guys like us though, and it can't be too bad a thing if it gets people who are into basic denim more interested in Oni Denim - gotta start somewhere, haha.

I've never even tried on the Red fit - but with the current Blue fit (1001-HM included) I would size down one for a straighter fit, or TTS for a relaxed fit.

Both Hinoya & Oni have the sizing chart for the 1001-HM.

Been a lurker on this thread for awhile. The info in the blog is fantastic. I'm in a pair of Ande Whalls for the next year but my next pick up is a pair of Onis. Mike how does the fit compare to OG Roy's? What is the most comparable cut?

Mmm, Oni's fits are pretty loose, even the Blue (slimmer) fit I would consider between straight and relaxed if worn TTS.

They fit similar to the fuller SDA cuts, stove-pipe style with minimal taper - a bit fuller in the thighs and hips than the old Roy jeans.

Would recommend wearing one size down in the current day Blue fits unless, like me, you like a relaxed fit.

Thanks for the info mike! I like the fuller cuts as well. With the OG Roy's I went back and forth with him on what waist size to get so ended up with pretty much the perfect fit for me. Ill read this thread from start to finish ( got a year) and should have a pretty good idea. Tate and yoko just opened up here in the great white north and they hopefully will be getting some more Oni models in. I'll keep lurking. Thanks again for the info.

^ so would I, mike. I would really like to see a worn pair though. I keep eyeing Shoai but fear they will wear like the PBJ Ai 01 which I have since put out to pasture. looking for the underlying texture without the slubs - doable?

^ The 18 & 19 oz slub denims are quite similar in texture, I think either one would fit the bill nicely

18 oz was re-issued this year, I think BiG, Hinoya, etc have it.

^I don't think big got the 18oz, only hinoya and maybe some other shops on rakuten. They've had only size 38 in stock for a very long time
