Don't know if it's sufficiently urban, but I love my Arcteryx Alpha SL.

I get overheated really easily, even in winter, but it's uninsulated and breathable enough that I can use it as a winter jacket. It's also roomy enough that I can layer underneath if I really need to. Have to say, seeing gore in action was impressive. I ran it under my sink a few times just because I've never had a gore-tex jacket before and it was awesome to watch the water fly off.

Yeah, Arc'teryx is great overall, but their "waterproof" zippers are shitty

edit says: it seems you got 'em new and first time goretex. Am I right?

new and first time goretex user, yeah.

the complaint i have with arcteryx jackets is the taping on the bottom hem. on both my beta ar and sl they came undone.

Not trying to be snarky, but did you try getting them repaired under warranty? I would hope that they'd cover that.

it's funny was going to ask the very question about footwear suitable for urban techninja steez as I now proudly own an arc'teryx veilance filed sv in black

opetian not a fan of those nike special field boots was thinking about the Diemme Roccia Vet Schoeller® Keprotec® in Black

does anyone now what they're like or maybe some other suggestions would be most welcome :)

Veilance catalogue models are wearing black Common Project hi-tops, very nice, minimalist design.

For real urban ninja performance I was thinking of getting these very rugged Adidas GSG-9, but maybe they are too much of an overkill.

I usually rock superfuture's favourite raf velcros:

Probably going to get a pair of ID lunarglide+ 3's. Thinking of getting them in all black, although I think I saw an all grey model on 20hundred's blog that looked pretty cool.
