You can tell when it's a ringflash. His shot was a three light portrait, main beauty dish (right camera), catch light (left subject), and background light.

Ringflashes can be useful if you're in the business of using it all the time, but otherwise, it's an expensive one trick pony.

this is a cheaper alternative for a ring flash especially if you already have a decent flash. haven't tried it personally but its an option

what would make a black and white photo in the style of street photography more romantic? 28mm or 50mm?

i was thinking something like Cartier-Bresson's work.

From what I remember about Bresson's work, I think he used a 35mm, not absolute on that though.

he did use 35mm. like, exclusively.
