Tristessa by Jack Kerouac just got done. Now it's time for some theoretical reads, bauhaus or minimalism. But man, i would change my mind like that if i could afford The Curse of Lono by Hunter s today.

i am trying to boost my local library's circulation to maintain funding for the city, so i've been checking out 15 items at a time. right now I am reading Pahlaniuk's THE HAUNTED, books on Eakins, Schiaperelli, and Man Ray, poems by Lorca. The Wire magazine, as well.

On Wings of Eagles..story about EDS and Ross Perot's privately funded rescue of his companies officers who were arrested in Iran during the fall of the Shah. If half this shit is true it is an incredible story.

Fountainhead is a great book and worth the time.

I'm reading the following:

The Moviegoer - Walker Percy

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius - Dave Eggers

^^ So is a Heartbreaking Work, one of my all-time favorites, although I can't get into Eggers' "You Shall Know Our Velocity".......HWOSG is hilarious

I figured I would give The Fountain Head a try since "Atlas Shrugged" is my #1 favorite.....

Eggers is great, his book of short stories, How We Are Hungry is really good, as is the American Nonrequired Reading anthology he edits

"up the mountain coming down slowly" and "after i was thrown in a river and before i drowned" from how we are hungry both blew me away.

about halfway thru the world is flat.

bummer to hear about rise of the creative class... that's next on my list.

newsstand reads --- eye, idea, iD, i-D, wax poetics, mass appeal, GQ, pro cycling, print, baseline, tokion (but not anymore ... the new AD has it looking awful and the new publisher has it reading awful) ....

I would be reading Jeff Noon - Falling Out Of Cars, but I lent it to my girlfriend so won't get it back till tomorrow. She left Kelley Armstrong - Stolen here, so I guess I'll probably dig into that a little later

You -all- need some Jeff Noon in your lives
