So this happened last week... Went outside with the dogs & saw this on the neighboring property. No one lives there but the people had come to mow the perimeter (required by law). Likely their mower blade hit a rock & sparked (apparently they had some remote controlled device). Could also have been an electrical spark. Luckily the wind was blowing away from us although we had all the pets in our vehicles ready to go. Fire crews arrived promptly, all by road rather than air although a plane did fly over to observe at one point. There is a house on the property which was spared. They lost two junk trailers which the fire crews kept a close eye on. The wind took the fire across to another property where no structures were damaged but much of the land was blackened. Once the trailers had burned down the crews made sure all hot spots were extinguished This was a second spot where I could see flames. I went & called them over but I expect they were aware. Later that night we walked around to inspect the overall damage & scope of the burn. And the day after. One of the things I found interesting was that the undergrowth had burned while the taller weeds were still present. I guess the straw/hay type dead growth burns so fast that the fire wave quickly passes by anything green. Needless to say we were relieved & thankful that our place didn't sustain any damage. Hard to say what would have happened had the wind been blowing in our direction. I had mowed a pretty wide firebreak which should have been adequate to stop the spread. This was the closest fire we had ever experienced.19 points

Guess a new journey begins for me as my FW1942 tux landed a couple of days ago, although mine will remain on ice for now. All l can say about the quality of the workmanship in the products is that they surpass expectations. And the communication, service and extras (including attention to detail) from Hoosier was top notch.14 points

Also got my pair recently, planning to do the same as Doc and wait a bit. Probably once it starts to cool off. But I might be tempted to start wearing them sooner.11 points

Here are the Kyoto fit pics. I don’t really gravitate towards these cuts at the moment, but the pattern on these is really well done. I still wish that the rise was a bit higher. These seem like Resolute 710 through the legs and 711 in the rise. Regardless I quite like them and I’ll probably get used to a lower rise again after wearing these for a bit. The more that I look at them, the less wear that I think they’ve had. I’d be surprised if they’ve been worn more than 10 times and washed more than 1 or 2 times. I promise to still grab some macro shots of the details and denim when I get some time and the lighting is better.6 points

@super-thermite nice! Your patch is nicer than mine. Mine is blank. I removed the suspender buttons after two years of struggle and never looked back. They’re really nice jeans. They evolve really good imo. I think it’s about time someone opened a Moto thread. side note - I don’t think freewheelers carry anything remotely similar in width. wearing said jeans, yesterday4 points

I was able to snag #20 the well worn/faded short sleeve chambray and #45 sack pants. I’m super excited about both but mostly the sack pants since Roy never released any of those.4 points

Motor New Vintage Old Baggy Denim Trouser in 30. Preordered them months ago after I fell in love with their shoes. I've learned from a post by @Hopethisoneisnttakenthat these are TCB's. I checked with Moto and they confirmed they were made for them by TCB-Inoue. These are super fun. No way I'll be able to tolerate the suspender buttons, so they won't be daily drivers. Still prefer the rise in FC 0105. I love the patch.4 points

i dont think the no.2 will be a country mile off those tho: i predict there will be balloooning, saggy back rise: maybe more subtle twist than such a phat str8 leg… imma telling myself to trust the pattern cutters and the process… (plus i came to repro vintage cuts from the late 90s, specifically into lvc 1870s models and it was a natural transition) @super-thermite: very nice fit indeed! nice with loafers! suspender buttons aren’t that intrusive in practice in my experience…2 points

The description of that Moto pair makes them sound like the TCB-made 90s style cut (which Moto specifically calls out) that some people (can’t remember who exactly) were hoping for in the TCB Contest thread with the addition of suspender rivets on these. They look great2 points

When I was a kid, we spent around a week each year at a family friend's cabin up in the mid-Sierra, off of the 108. It's on a (dammed) lake, so plenty of swimming, fishing, exploring, etc. Over the span of the 2010s, the lake got more and more crowded, and I focused my spare time less and less on frontcountry. Around 10 years went by without me visiting. Anyway, this summer we got an invitation to go back. I'm taking a few months off from work, so time isn't as much of a commodity for me; and, anyway, there's something going on with the connective tissue in one of my knees, so backcountry hiking is off the table for the time being. Cabin trip seemed perfect. Spent last week laying low, playing board games, sitting + swimming + fishing by the water, working on fixing up an old pair of Cane's…lots of fun through and through.2 points

@AlientoyWorkmachine We're probably the closest to the St Pauls area. I'm working in the shop (son of a stag) on tues & Weds this week. It's generally quiet enough on those days to be done while you wait- or grab a coffee while it's being done if you prefer. I'm in the workshop (soldier blue) doing repairs on Mon & thurs. It's only 7 mins or so from the shop and would happily pop over to do it. Feel free to DM if you have any questions. Martin1 point

What a scam artist, I hope it catches up to him eventually. A quick search online shows that he is evidently the director of design at Tecovas?1 point

Son of a Stag hemming is spot on in my experience Our very own @Mr Black did a great job on my Denime 220s last time round A chap called David at Soldier Blue has also done a top job on two pairs of Canes previously, using cotton thread from his own supply to get a thread match1 point

Pardon the quality of the photos. They are screenshots from video. So yesterday around noon my dogs started freaking out. I thought a coyote perhaps, but when I looked out the window here's what I saw... After a moment of disbelief, thinking where did they come from & how did they get here, I went outside to take a look. Apparently I seemed untrustworthy & they wandered off to the far end of our property. Luckily our fences are decent, but they really didn't seem like they wanted to get out. So after making some calls 911, & getting a referral to Animal Control, someone came around & checked the ear tags. Not long after the owner showed up. He asked if I would mind driving his truck & trailer while he went in on horseback to bring them out. Would I mind?? I've been waiting all my life for an adventure like this!! Here's the rancher guiding the cows out to the road. Initially I had thought the plan would be to load them in the trailer right there but apparently cow behaviour requires a more complicated procedure. This consisted of getting the cows onto a neighboring property where there is a corral. The white car contained Mrs CSL, coming home from work btw. On first attempt rather than going to the right, the cows veered off to the left into the wrong gateway which luckily was closed. After this I was instructed to bring the truck ahead of the desired entryway & park in a position that would guide the cows in. The second attempt was successful the three cows were herded a ways back on to that property to a corral. The next operation was to get the cows into a smaller corral & back the trailer up to that gate, accurately so they animals couldn't get tangled in any gaps around the trailer. Once this was done, the rancher shoo'd the cows into the trailer, and then loaded his horse. Then back to Chez CSL to drop me off & we were done. Kinda blew my day but it was a fun adventure & I learned a few things about cows.... And I came home to find my Fullcount 30th anniversary jacket had arrived, so a good day all around. Haha not with UK prices... and the Yen rates making jackets extra good value Given I'm in Yorkshire, I tell the kids they can have the heating on after jackets and star jumps have failed to warm them up... and it's below 10C... indoors1 point

@beautiful_FrEaK yes they made a type 2, it was several years ago now (the post I found was from 2017). I think they made it for one of their Japanese retailers Commono Reproducts (which seems like is no longer in business), not many were available. Would love if they made a traditional type 1 / 2 someday. Some more photos here: http://livininparis.com/2017/03/23/ooe-yofukuten-co/1 point

At my parents' place for a family birthday. Planted a persimon tree [1] as a birthday gift. Got the new dick carroll comics [2] Tried air layering on my parents yuzu [3]. Let's hope it works out. Fig tree we planted last fall at my grandparents' place is coming along pretty good [4], let's hope for good fruits. Stork's nest right around my parents' place [5]. They used to come back every year, nowadays they don't even leave anymore, since the winters are so mild1 point

Had lunch with my lad in the seated area near Hibiscus Rising, a sculpture I’d read about and wanted to see close up. It’s touted as ‘Leeds first public artwork to reflect the cultural diversity of the city’. That’s nice language to describe the abhorrent police racism and brutality in the late 1960s against David Oluwale which is at the root of this. Then a wander around what they’re calling the South Bank end of Leeds. I can see the city is being opened up and this old part of town regenerated and linked into the city centre. A mixture of old red brick and new multi-coloured gaudy blocks whichever way you look. The Teletley's Brewery building... brewers long gone The front of Salem Chapel, dated 1906 The original chapel buildings from 1791, with the city centre in the background I never knew until today Leeds United football club was founded here in 1919 Modern city centre living Love this building1 point
