Quick sizing question on a pair of RRDS. I had a pair of size 30 waist (my waist measures 31.5) and they stretched to almost 32.5. Is this normal?

I've never had to buy a size 29 in any jean and it seems like the waist may stretch out to about a 32 (which is where I like them), but the rest of the jean may be too tight. Do people with a size 32 waist buy 29's in RRDS?

yeah, that's completely normal. Nudie's stretch out to almost 2+ inches past original measurements. my size 36 Joes are now 39 inches, and I have hot soaked them.

Ralfs are hard to fit tho, because it seems that, depending on your body type, they are either really slim, or pretty relaxed. I got mine pretty relaxed, but that's cause I wanted a change of pace.

If they fit the way you like right now apart from the waist, just wear a belt. Waist stretching out too much can be remedied, everything else too tight cannot be.

Yeah I'd say that's pretty standard. I've had a few pair of RRDS (I'm also a size 30 even though I just bought a 31 from context) and after the initial break in period (6-12 months) and you start washing them more regularly you're going to want that extra room. I'd be worried the 29s would just be a bit too tight.

found my average joes in the corner of my closet the other day. i'd completely forgotten about them and haven't worn them in a looooong time.

thanks! they're the regular dry heavys - my first raws. i think i'm gonna put them back in the rotation for a while.

wow, that's some good fading for dry heavys. did you wait a while for first wash?

i don't really remember. i did baby them the first few months so i think the first wash was premature. i'm actually shocked that they look the way they do.

my best guess is that they got about a year of continuous wear and 3-4 cold washes.

cool dude! as you can see (from my pic below), mine havn't really faded much. They've had once warm soak and about 3.5 months of real wear. They've been the least favorite pair in multiple rotations for the past 6 months or so.

Hip flare is apparent in the second pic, but that just has to do with the sizing.

When the jeans flare out at the hips because of excess denim.

Fit is bad, you shoulda sized down. If those are 2 weeks in by 3 months they'll have stretched even more and become pretty much unwearable.

I think you could have downsized more... And they need a hem I think.

And like previous poster said. Nudies stretch a bunch. You could have gone skintight to end up with a slim fit after 2 weeks of wear.

~washed at 5th month, machine dried

~hot wash at 6 months, air dried

going for 1 - 2 more months hopefully before i wear some new ones.

i have a crotch rip too. it ripped around 4 - 5 months

Here's an updated fit picture of my AJs. Three total washes as stated in my sig. I just threw it in the machine all 3 times. I patched them too, check out my left knee. I patched my crotch and right back pocket too. Show ya'll some other time:
