It seems like a lot of people are getting disheartened (and maybe rightfully so, given all the banter...), yet I for one just want to thank aho for putting up with all of this (and Gordon, of course). I think once we know what our actual limitations are, this process will go much more smoothly (I hope).

I agree about not overdoing the details. But, an americana frankenstein jean would be fantastic. A couple of specific details from each brand could be present, maybe side cinch and LHT from lee, cut and rivets from levis (I don't even care anymore, decide on something!; 0500 or 5000 66' inspired cut/0110 (not levis), preferably the 5000 so the hip flaps and wide seat are less evident), arcs and pocket details (what samurai used on their wrangler inspired models), coin/watch pocket, and buttoning from wrangler, and just leave to samurai to do something creative with the them. Please object to this, you guys probably know vintage detailing better than me, and are probably more creative as well. Also, if we go to Gordon (or ask nogami-san/samurai, but it would seem overly complicated) saying that we want to do a LHT americana inspired jean with detail additions from levi's, lee, and wrangler, we would get great and probably more practical and realistic ideas. I think give the jean a theme like this would really help sure things up.

Also, really, I don't understand why so many people are now objecting to the 0500. Its very similar to the 0110 in rise and in the upper block down until the knee, but with an intense taper from there. If you hem them down, you're not really even going to see too much of a difference. But, the 0500 allows people (a significant number here on sufu) to go with a jean that can appear to be fairly slim because of the taper.

^ definitely. the 0500 is the ideal cut. not only that, but the polls say that the 0500 is the cut of the majority. lets go from there. ALSO, i think we should do one thing at a time, a systematical approach. So let''s start off deciding on back arcs ( as it seems to be important). I vote wrangler arcs. kinda low profile , unlike the lazy s

Alright everyone...I think we're going with the S0500XX cut after all:

" I¹m sure we can make the S0500XX work if that¹s the cut everyone wants. The easiest thing may be to just offer everyone to choose from what Samurai has to offer in way of fit, denim, pockets, buttons, etc, and put it together in one jean. As mentioned previously this is the only way Samurai works with these sorts of collaborations.

If the S0500XX is the cut you want then next choose the denim, back pocket style (levi, lee, wrangler, yamamoto), the buttons (donut, sunrise, etc), rivets (levi, lee, wrangler, etc), pocket lining, stitch color, patch

design. I¹ll try to put together pictures of all the available detail and trimming options.

Regards,

Gordon"

So, based on poll results and Gordon's confirmation, the S0500XX is the cut we will use!

As you can tell from the e-mail, Gordon is currently putting together pictures of all the detail/trimming options so until then, is it safe to assume we are also going with 17oz. LHT denim?

Yeah, I think its safe to say so.

If you need me to go the store and check anything out regarding this, or need me to communicate anything, I'll probably be free this weekend to do something like that.

Also, once Gordon sends us the pictures, we should get a new thread going with new polls and all the rest especially considering that we've decided on cut already. We should really check how many people are certainly in based on the idea and cut. It would be absolutely terrible if we didn't have upwards of 50 in participation and all the effort on all fronts would only go into making a small number of pairs.

why don't you ask nogami-san in person?!

so to all who talked about wrangler-style arcs. Samurai never did that so you guys want the original ones?

I'll post some pics of the S0210XJ for all to see what it looks like

I did mention this to Gordon before and he said it'd be alright if only 40ish people actually buy (a la Full Count), but of course, ideally we would want to sell more. Doesn't mean the full run wouldn't be made, so no worries.

As far as another thread, I feel we do need one, but I hate to clutter up superdenim so I'll make it when the time comes...

lol ed, if there really are 100 of us I'd tend to agree with you on the pricing, but we'll find out how many people are actually in when I make the other thread. A patch with edavatar samurai vs. Musashi would in all honesty be kind of entertaining...;)
