Clothing for The Great Outdoors

I want a big black backpack and can't find any one for less than 250.

I love mine but it has faded a bit and the bottom is stained. The grey THE NORTH FACE logo annoys me (same thing with the little reflective stripes) The interior lining has ripped (at the top) and I would need to waterproof it (I think I have the stuff for at home) and I like the waxing effect. So I was thinking about (over)dying the whole back black and applying some silicone to create a waxing effect (might only do this with the lower part).

Duluth Pack.

Was someone looking for fingerless gloves in this thread? Too lazy to find out.

These Fox River gloves from REI seem legit. Not gonna last forever, but wool knit gloves generally won't.

85/15 blend, made in USA, not bulky, no logos, $9.

I picked up a pair of nubby, black wool gloves just like this (fingerless) from Steven Alan for $20.00

I have both a Kasson and a Greenland. The Greenland is by far the better of the two. If you want a lined one, get the Winter Greenland which is fleece lined: http://www.fjallraven.com/Produkter/jackor--vastar/greenland-winter-jacket as opposed to the standard Greenland which is unlined: http://www.fjallraven.com/Produkter/jackor--vastar/greenland-jacket

So...as my first major contribution to this thread...in a long time...I'd like to start with confirming a little sizing question surrounding those lovely Crescent Down Works "Montange" Parkas... YES...THEY RUN HUGE. I have no idea how any human that isn't at least 8' tall would realistically wear something larger than a Large.

I'm 6'1"...slim and all that good shit...pause...and I can safely say a Small works for a much more traditional, roomy, fit (I wear a Medium in the old school 60/40's...Woolrich, LL Bean, REI, etc.)...and if I wanted, I can go to XS for a slimmer, somewhat more flattering fit everywhere except for the hood (which hardly stayed on my head due to it's young'ness compared to my dome).

I tried on the joints at DQM. That's how.

I would probably roll with a Small just to get all of the maximum function and traditional shit in the bag...really really ill details with the leather reinforcements around the snaps and all. The only minor minor complaint I have is that the zipper seems flimsy...only because it is not one of the old-style chunky, over-sized, Talon'ish joints.

thanks for the help! i think i'm going to go for the classic greenland.

How is the sizing on these? I'm tempted to order an XS but i'm worried about the sleeves being too short (i'm 5'10" 140lbs). I want a slimmer fit but, hey, its gotta keep the rain out too!
