Thanks for the link, SLAB. I'm considering the Hickory stripe. I emailed Oi Polloi requesting the shoulder dimension.

takashi wrote me that my shirt is ready. i am really curious to know if it fits or not. anyone else here ordered his latest shirts?

Did you get a special larger size made? I got the Lot #3209 in black cotton covert in "18.5". It's a little loose on me, but I imagine it will shrink after washing. Fantastic quality shirt!

Rivet Head,

I can't believe the E-Workers guy made you a larger size. I emailed him back in April about a larger size, and I told him payment up front, and he still wouldnt do it. I emailed him again because I want that wool and horsehide coat he's got in his store that he's taking orders on now, and offered him cash up front again.

Fardin,

I have three Bootlegger's reunion shirts, because they make a REAL 17.5 in limited quantities if you can find them. The bitch is, I normally have to proxy them, so they end up between 250-300 usd each. I have the 1911 stifel trackwalker shirt, the Neal Casady linen chambray shirt, and the Neal Casady 9oz denim workshirt. Might get a few flannels from them soon. They are superior quality.

hey K449

sounds great. i think rivet head and some others over at the fedoras lounge made this special deal for the 18.5 size shirts.

where did you get your bootleggers from ? e workers make some real 17.5 sizes too. if i compare their 16.5 size to the bootleggers on the net then they seem the same. wich size are going to get the coat in. this years coat seems to be cut bigger then last years fur collar coat, wich i have.

any fit pics of your shirts?

We kept bugging him until he relented. He said he was doing it as an experiment, but I bet he'll do it again if you can get a few people interested. I'd love to get the jacket you are referring to, but I just don't have the cabbage. The 18.5 K & TH shirt is more like a 17.5 or generous 16.5. It looks pretty spot on to a photo I have of the "Big Yank" shirt it's a copy of.

Fardin,

No camera =no fit pics :( I guess I almost need a camera to be on this forum, so may have to get one. I can't get the coat in any size he has. I need the shoulders and chest bigger, so he'd have to adjust the pattern.

Slab,

Haven't washed them yet. According to Bootlegger's they will shrink less than a cm, but since I like the fit, I'll be washing in cold and line drying outside. Being here in Upstate NY where it will be colder than a well digger's asshole in about a minute that will probably not be till the spring.

Rivet Head,

He makes no mention of that. This is what he wrote back:

Sorry, but I do not accept any custom orders now.

First, I do not have enough time.

Second, 2 years ago, I accept 8 custome made jackets for one person.

He only paid the total for 2 jackets and never contact.

After that, I do not accept any custome orders.

Sorry.

Regards

Takashi

the guy seems sketchy to me....

If you guys are looking for a more reasonable way to get custom workshirts, I've had a few made to measure out of Japanese selvage chambray by a guy in Texas. He does great work and can make virtually any garment you want... everything is totally custom. I've also run a couple group buys with him and everyone has been very happy with his work. Send me a message if you would like his email address.

I think you are right about the shawl collar coat on e-workers.net, it's 24" across the chest, so I could probably fit into it no problem...now to find an extra $500 lying around!

Problem is, the coat won't be anything like a 48 inch chest practically speaking. First, that's an outside measurement of a very thick, melton wool, second, it's made to wear a long sleeve shirt or sweater under. Most likely, with this type of coat, that equals 45-46 max, maybe a bit less if you want free range of movement. In any event, a coat like this isnt meant to fit very tightly. I am a 48, and when purchasing clothing like this in the past, I take a 52 chest usually.

your right i also guess it will be to small. i found with the coat that i bought that it fits ok around the chest, but its very tight in the back when i am moving and around the armpits. but specially the back is cut tight, if that makes sense. but the quality of takashi san´s stuff i great.

His stuff looks fantastic...only problem is, most Japanese stuff leaves Americans/Europeans coming up short on the fit somewhere. Some aspect of it is off most of the time. Not to stray too far off topic, but the amazing thing to me is that they make pants/jeans as big as they do. They were doing that back in the 90's before the whole repro/workwear thing caught on.So, are there japanese folks out there with a 36 or 38 waist who wear a shirt w/ a 38-40 inch chest? Maybe there are a bunch of japanese with big waists running around naked from the waist up? or vice versa with these small shirts.

I like it.

If you put a Samurai logo on that thing I have a feeling some people couldn't tell the difference.

I think Dickies sells one in hickory stripe and it is more workwear than western wear as well.

I was thinking of buying a Dickies shirt to rip apart and use it as a pattern for making shirts.
