Who has updated their browser to Google Chrome? I have installed it on Linux using Wine but I'm having some issues. However you windows users should be loving your life right now. I am a huge google fanboy.

i got it yesterday and i dont know what the big deal is with it. i went back to firefox until i get more time to play with it.

what are its main pluses?

its fast, it's small and there isn't a bunch of useless empty space being wasted. it allows you to load webapps right off of your desktop.

I really notice a big difference in speed between firefox and chrome with chrome being significantly faster.

I don't really understand how the browser makes the internet slower or faster since I am on the same connection, but it works so I will use it. Only problem is that my middle click scroll isn't working with Chrome.

browser of the future no doubt.

installation was very quick for me also, not sure how it got all 46MB or whatever on my harddrive so quickly.

There are a couple of tweaks you can find by searching youtube on how to speed up your firefox web browser. However even with the tweaks Google Chrome will be significantly faster. The reason it loads the webpages faster, to put it simply is Chrome just does not have as much shit going on inside it's head as firefox.

the best thing about chrome is that if a single tab crashes it doesnt take the entire browser down.

A better feature would be to not have your tabs crash :(

However for now, that's another huge plus compared to firefox.

I thought it's only faster than Firefox because it's still missing a lot of stuff.. like security procedures and verification processes and things like that. I tried it out a little bit, but I'm going back to FF until Chrome is a bit more developed..

how do companise make money from browsers anyway?

why are there so many developers trying to improve browsers if they are essentially all freeware

Microsoft and Google are battling for world data domination. Browsers are just part of the plan.

Firefox is just trying to kick Microsoft in the 'nads. Lots of people are willing to donate time and effort to this action.

no one here uses Opera?

shame no one really knows opera has been the best browser for a long time now. Opera 10 is going to be better, i can't even comprehend that.

i'm also hedging a bet that people reporting faster speeds on chrome from FF haven't cleared their caches and cookies etc because i don't find chrome to be quicker than any other browser i've used..

UI is crap also.

chrome is crap. and it will never catch on. the normal user doesn't care (unfortunately) about webkit, web standards, or how fast their browser can run js. unlike firefox which has become more popular through its add-ons and security (gecko too), chrome offers NOTHING "good" for the user.

and the ui is pretty fucking disgusting...

Dude, it's still in beta and has only been out for two days. They will eventually have add-ons, like firefox. Chrome is not only going to catch on, but in 5 years it will probably be the most popular browser next to IE.

Shit, it already has twice the userbase that Opera does and it has only been out for two days. Many, many firefox users will jump ship and come over to chrome.

The UI does look pretty gross in XP, but that's because it's not fully compatible with XP yet. For Vista, it integrates Aero and looks pretty slick.

Chrome is obviously going to catch on as it will be the web browser for google's operating system 'Android' .

Didn't like firefox, was using wyzo and up until now it was doing pretty fly.

So far I like:

MUCH faster overall browser performance

Tabs crash individual instead of entire browser.

Everythings working fine, middle scroll and all

Frankly like i'm kind of surprised about the initial hate a lot of these cats are throwing out, from what I can tell its a clean piece so far

it's not about money, it's about control.

if you control the browser, you essentially control the web.

additionally, most people never re-assign their homepage, that means if they're using IE, they go to microsoft's portal every time they open their web browser.

you can change it by setting a homepage. wrench>options then under the "basics" tab tell it what to do on startup.

Most visited still shows up on new tabs though... a bit annoying but whatever.

try out the incognito mode though it is funny.

ctrl+shift+N instead of ctrl+N for a new window.
