this is not affected by the actual economy, but is seperate and autonomous. rep is closely tied to fashion and how much an individual spends on said fashunz, and therefore economic downturns in the outside world have little to do with superfuture's economy.

Dude, you need to work on your economic knowledge or your irony. Most sectors of the service and retail industry don't lower their prices during downturns, this doesn't mean they're doing good. Ladies apparel sales are down (amusingly enough men are up) and a bunch of the big retailers made more conservative buys than ever and introduce additional mid-range brands into their mix.
