uppercut is Canadian and they are decent.

uppercut closed up shop in van early last year. I think that was the end of them, which is to bad because they were decent.

i could totally be mistaken. i had a friend interning with them for school and they shut down their offices here. she didn't think they had any other locations?

she didn't even get to finish the internship (had to make up the remainder at lululemon, blech.)

note - rocky, i'd just like to draw attention to the fact that despite there being little happening in canadian fashion, there isn't really much of worth coming out of australia...the majority of it is loosely based around the party scene, and wearing absurd shit in an effort to distance yourself from others who are also draped in absurd shit.

yes there is, please tell me you are referring too with absurd shit? ksubi?

it was controversial because it was publically funded by canadian tax dollars, and it was a movie called "young people fucking"

they were almost repsonisble for the complete re-writing of a bill giving tax credits to up and coming canadian filmmakers, and brought up some huge debate on obscenity, definitions of pornography, and free speech.

Do you think it has anything to do with the fact we take our shoes off at house parties? I just stocked up on flashy "party socks" at the Holts sale last weekend.

immigrants who come here and aren't given recognition for their education and job credentials are right to be bitter and to hold onto their homeland ties for some sense of belonging or identity -- after all, it's not like canada is doing much to encourage the inclusion or ensure the wellbeing of new canadians.

i'm a second gen canadian, my parents have said openly and often that if they would never move back to hong kong -- it's not their home anymore, toronto is.

First of all, this is total bullshit. We don't have to let anyone in, and we do. Canada is one of the best countries in the entire world for accepting and accommodating immigrants. People have a choice to apply to enter this nation, the fact that they may not have their education or professional credentials recognized is part of the risk that THEY choose. The government has a selective system that will allow most immigrants to have their credentials tested and approved or denied based on specific standards, I don't know about you, but I don't want treatment from a doctor that can't pass the same testing that med school graduates get.

Finally, I can't believe I'm hearing this shit out of a SECOND GENERATION Canadian.

Please. Get off it. Your parent's parent's suffering can't serve as a lodestone to tie your bias to, that's too far to justify.

Awaiting politics ban.

I kno dats ma point. She says shit about ppl be runnin around wit dey degrees not recognized, I be sayin dat peoples who ain't got dey degrees recognized either can't pass dat test, or can't afford the fees to take test.

Doktor test real expensive (like 10 grands for the whole process) and I'm srry to the immagants that that be expensive, but truth is ppl who be evaluating dese people have valuable time, can't just be accommodating every person who sez "I can b doktor".

Basically what I'm saying is the immigrant with the unrecognized degree has option to have that recognized. Often it means working for a few years in a job lower than your training would usually provide, but if you have the skills, you will be recognized when you complete the testing. So I don't see what the complaint is.

And many programs are available to make the testing process easier, including options for loans once you've completed the preliminary stages.

I not even rly saying dey gotta grind. I mean, dey do, and I think that's ok. My point was merely that "not having their degrees recognized" is mostly bullshit. If you got the ability, there is an efficient and fair system to get your shit upped.

I didn't really destroy it, if I were to do that I would cite sources and put time in. I just offered a differing immigrant experience. One where most people end up happy and Canada is mostly a-ok.

I know you joking but my best joke is that despite the fact I'm a huge white man with upper middle class parents, I'm also a first generation immigant.
