I just got an email from Gordon about some really exciting bits concerning Fullcount. I really hope that these win the Levi's repro.

Sneak peak: 38" inch inseam, green tag ink, choice of denim, and the possibility of a green selvedge edge.

The denim choices include the usual light weight denim, the 15th anniversary denim, or a new 15.7oz. denim that is slubby and more like Samurai.

The 15.7oz. denim is more expensive but if we have around 100 people then Gordon is going to hook it up and keep the price around $200.

Just thought I'd share and maybe help influence you guys.

sounds great. i like all the details here. personally i think a slub denim might be too similar to a 0500xx, but you can't please everyone.

ps - what's the fit of the fullcounts similar to?

I think Gordon was using that as a point of reference rather than saying they were just like Samurais. He could very well have mentioned Oni since those are slubby as well. We won't know until samples of the denim are seen.

Here is an example of the fit according to Bears. I'm not sure what size the gentlemen is wearing or height/weight specifics.

that fullcount info sounds very cool. If it's going to be so custom, is it possible to sew *something* on the back pockets. I'm just getting a little tired of plain pockets, but if thats your bag you always have the seam ripper option...

I wonder if this is still Zimbabwee cotton like the other Fullcounts? That'd be cool, as I don't think I've seen slubby jeans made from Zimbabwee cotton.

I haven't voted yet, but after what DP posted about the FC makes me want to go FC even though I wanted to try studio d'artisans.

as of now, it looks like it's going to be a levi's contest instead of a levi's vs. Lee repro unless someone finds a pair of Lees repro that can go against these heavyweight contenders.

I wish I would have known all of this information before I voted for the SDAs. Is there was some way for me to take my vote back.

I think Mr. Invincible is right. There are only 12 votes so far for Lee's when around 50-60 people voted for them in the last poll. When the poll ends we might just have to make it one jean contest, unfortunately.

The time table is still set for January. Gordon told me that it would take up to 2 weeks to dye the thread green for the selvage edge and about 2-3 months for production.

I also asked about arcs and re-designing the patch.

lets make it 17 oz. texas cotton

donut buttons

I can't think of a lee repro other than the Samurais. I don't too much about Lee repros. If it does come to a levi's contest, I am ok with it since I was going to vote for a Levis repro anyways. IMO, I think wrangler is better than Lee.

I voted for a Leepro. It looked/looks like it's still a pretty tight race between the two to me, or am I not seeing the poll results right?

If it was a simple Levi or Lee contest, id be up for getting my own pair of 1947's to participate, but I'm not ok with spending 200+ on some denim I'm just going to destroy.

Just my $.02...subscribing to the thread.

Well if you don't feel like spending 200+ then don't participate...

I know. I need to emphasize it, because most other people who don't want to spend 200+ don't usually post it.

Right....sorry for adding to the discussion. In the future I'll run my post by you to see if its worthy or not.

Like I said...subscribed, will see how this unfolds before I make my final decision.

If thats ok with Knugget, that is.

The Lee Edwin repros are the most authentic reproductions out there of the classic full cut, high rise work wear denim. The low rise cut workwear jeans like Stronghold, Fullcount, some LVC and Sugarcane are modern compromises. I guess this is a moot point since Lee's aren't even listed in the poll. Too bad.

I get the feeling that going for true authentic reproductions is not the focus here.
