i had "wontonmen" at a korean/chinese place. it was owned by koreans, but they made and served chinese food. i had been to another one of these kinds of places a while back, and i remembered that koreans are very skilled at making gyoza...or poststickers.

the wontonmen sucked though. it was totally not chinese style, nor was their anything really korean-tasting about it. the soup had no punch. the weird thing though, is that i had the same shit at the other korean/chinese place and shit tasted exactly the same (while the gyoza, more specifically yakigyoza not mandoo was fucking great)??

is the recipe for korean-chinese wontonmen bascially the same all over? or were these two places just not up to par?

i mean obviously every ethnicity does their take on other kinds of food in order to make the taste of it better suited for their people, but in japan shit is usually always alittle different. anyway i suppose it's kinda stupid for me to assume that korean style chinese wontonmen tastes the same everywhere, but is it basically the same (soup and filling wise?)? is there a kind of universal korean recipe?

Korean food is gonna be different in every house and restaurant you go to. You're talking about Korean Chuuka, that is a grey no-man's land where there are no rules and North Koreans are the shot-callers. Soup stock, it could be either beef-based or clam-based, though beef is traditional and more popular. Filling for the dumplings is pretty universal, pork and scallions, though a lot of places I find ass out and use frozen. Soup dumplings are gonna be the same all the way from Russia to Vietnam.

Personally I like my soup stock beef-based, less milky, clean. I like it a bit spicy in a black pepper kind of way though my favorite place puts some Korean green pepper rings in theirs too for a bit of texture, a bit of Korean omelette. Big full-sized dumplings, a bit of soy and scallions on the side for dipping.

i don't know if this was that shit. in both places the actual toppings were the same. octopus, cabbage, some eggs, and some other shit on it. dumpling shit as you mentioned was universal. what got me is that both places tasted the same and that they were both korean owned chinese/korean resturaunts. i think they were marketing their businesses as chinese food. the broth was almost tasteless and shit wasn't spicy at all. they had all this chinese shit on the menu, but the korean translation (which i obviously couln't read) on the side.

i wanna try that fermented intestine shit... wtf is it called. like the one beat takeshi (his role was that of a korean immigrant in japan) made in the blood and bones movie.

not this tenderoni. he may have the looks but he's butt ass stupid and a badass wannabe. he used to have a motorcycle and then recently switched for a scooter instead. i don't know if it was my influence but i told him that motorcycles are for retards that want to die soon and scooters are a much better choice because they're somewhat safer. then i did an impression of myself on a scooter *vroom vroom*

^ on that note, share your korean rage stories to further enhance this stereotype:

1. was downtown looking for parking for literally 30 minutes, got angry as a parking spot was stolen from me right as i tried to back in. so i went back and out of anger i punched his side door in leaving a dent

2. similar story as above but punched my windsheild from inside out...no damage but my hand...

3. long story short, party went sour when roomate's gf started talking shit to people, out of anger punched my desk, now theres a big dent the size of my fist where the plywood busted in.

4. 3 cell phones thrown at walls/ground...including a 2 week old iPhone.

this is not nearly as bad as my brother's rage. apparnetly it runs in the family after hearing stories of my own mother drawing a knife on her neighbor cuz they scratched her car.

hmm lets see.

some korean girl said the only reason that was holding back from dating me was because i was chinese. (were filthy to koreans)

i was joking around with a friend saying (fuck koreans) and someone 1 person overheard. and the next day i was literally hoarded by a gang of 30 koreans. (well i probably deserved that one)

and i always get this typical question from a korean ( wanna dieeee?)

koreans are just mad in general. im sick of this shit.

Maybe its just you? :o

First day of school korean girl befriends me. I had just transfer and didn't know anyone. She helped me get elected freshman year and I've met a lot of people and made some friends that I'm still friends with (rare as I've gone through three best friends in MS, one for every year)

The cutie that I just recently helped dering was also from Korea but he didn't speak much english. Still very swt.
