here is an idea for judging...

whoever gets fades closest to a chosen pair of vintage big e levis wins. this will mean wearing just enough, washing at the right times, etc...

but if that was the case, i wish i knew which denim we're aiming for beforehand. 'cause that could've changed the way i sized down on my jeans. :(

we are looking for a good one now. really, if you buy them so they fit, you should be alright. i think a pair of 66 levis would be ideal

hmm, i guess i have to see which pair is chosen.

but more and more, i wish we could've ordered multiple pairs. i wouldn't mind trying to match a cool vintage pair's fade with these 660s, but would've also loved to wear them any way i wanted to. and maybe even have a pair in a deadstock condition for keepsake.

well.... the 1000xx denim was developed to replicate the fading of old vintage levis, and does so more than any other... to make this contest about extreme contrast and fading would not be in the spirit of that, and since these are the last 5 pocket jeans warehouse will ever make(our run of 660), we should keep this contest in line with that.

yeah, i think the samurai has the contrast stuff covered.

While the idea of comparing these with a pair of well worn vintage big E's sounds very cool, I'm not sure if I'm such a big fan of thinking that you'll have to work towards a certain type of look, sounds too contrived. And also fairly "fake sensitive" since one could just look at what they should resemble after a year and then try to replicate that.

Maybe I don't understand what you mean by this.

I am strongly in favor of people just wearing their jeans and living their life; I have never understood why people say things like "those honeycombs are weaksauce" or "I don't carry anything in my front pockets cause I don't want to fuck up my whiskers". To me, trying to match some holy grail goes against the whole idea of having your jeans reflect how you live.

It doesn't really affect me; it takes me years to break a pair of jeans and I am not going to be winning any contest; I am more interested in the journey than the destination. But I either don't understand what you mean, or I don't agree with it.

P.S., I agree with no public vote; I think someone with a lot of experience in the industry should do the judging.

Can't rep, but right on. If the contest is judged on something like that, I just won't worry about it. I'm way more interested in seeing the differences between people's wear than having people trying to match up

perfectly stated. This is the whole reason I got into this game in the first place.
