So.. much.. eyewear...

I went at around 4 pm, and though it was teeming with little old ladies I managed to snag a few exciting picks.

Sad thing is, this morning I was at Linda Derector and bought a pair of glasses at full price... even though they also had a sale -- 50% off. Just like me to not choose a sale item and then regret the impluse-buy immediately thereafter.

Fuck, I want to get glasses too! Is there tons left?

They seemed to be continually refilling the bins, but what with the amount of people ransacking said bins for the one or two unique pair among the bunch, it will definitely be a challenge to find something "wearably special."

Then again, even if you do buy one of the highly-duplicated pairs (meaning each bin probably has 2-3 of the same glasses), once you're outside the sample sale they'll be special in their own right.

It's a good mix of tacky to sophisticated -- I got a pair that looked astonishingly similar to some Prada wide-framed glasses, and another by Jil Sander, and yet another by Montana. Hand-made french lenses for 40-60 really isn't bad.

Price specifics:

$40 for anything that's not Mikli

$60 for Mikli

$90 for Alain Mikli

the dude running it said there weren't many of these, maybe 3 in the whole shitload of glasses, so i dunno. there were a bunch of montana glasses but these were the only pair of this design that i saw. i didn't spot any jil sander ones either, but apparently those were floating around too.

i would scope out the guy on the side of the register who is bagging glasses. those ones aren't picked over yet and he lets you hover to see the shit they're about to put out.
