Nope; definitely not wrong.

Alright Phantom...not gonna start an arguement here but we could discuss this forever. I guess it depends if your focus in life is money or job satisfaction. Many of my friends went to college, studied Art/Film, and are now...guess what...Artists and Filmakers, despite constantly being told by others that there was no money in it blah blah blah. If you look at ALL courses there is a certain percentage of people that, after graduating don't continue with what they studied. If you study for longer in anything your knowledge becomes more specialist. Most Artists (and lots of people in lots of careers in fact) struggle against people telling them that their job has no future, but they struggle on, because they love what they do, and that's what I think matters.

Nope; definitely not wrong. Sure, people who studied art history can go on to be multi-million dollar salaried investment bankers if they want, people who majored in fashion can end up being lead designers at billion dollar companies, etc., etc. You can get a great job in advertising with an art degree. One of my university friends majored in screenwriting and now owns a multi-million dollar multimedia consultancy.

Difference is that these majors don't yield a plethora of well-paying entry level positions, which is why I say this. You might have to work in the art world for 50 years before you are making over $100K as a curator, etc. (assuming you are intent on an art history-involved field). Or, as an independent artist, you might never sell one painting.

This is the sad part about these majors, unfortunately. Several of my other college roommates, who were all intelligent (I went to a top 10 school) were film and/or art majors and not a single one of them is doing anything art-related. It was just too tough for them to graduate and find work in NYC that would pay their bills whilst being art/film-related, so they all ended up doing other things. Notice the smiley face, anyway, it wasn't a stab at Rome1, for all I know, he might be the lead creative designer for Wieden & Kennedy...............

You definatly get in what you put out and your ass had better be ready to work for it, because shit doesn't come easy took me 2 or more years to sell anything but it got moving when i took some time and marketed myself properly, plus in the job im at now, with a masters you automatically make 8k more a year just for having it thats what i was getting at with the more school more pay thing. But otherwise art is no joke network and getting to know more and more people is the only way and a lot of times you have to take jobs that you don't want to do to get to the jobs that you do want. no dissrespect taken at all.

BA - Anthropology with concentrations in Physical/Biological Anthropology and Archaeology.

...originally wanted to go to medical school (haha) .

EDIT: I can't understand how Communications is a BS while Anthropology (especially what I was doing) is a BA. hahaha.

loosely considering an MA in Public Health w/ and eventual PhD in Medical Anthropology. ... or just Interdiscplinary Studies with a focus on Imperialism/Globalization and Diaspora. ...or an MBA (@ UT-Austin or any other progressive MBA programs).

check out luigi colani, he's this weird italian designer that does some cars and stuff. his stuff's weird but he's a really interesting guy.

Wow, cute girls become MEs? OMG LOL giggle giggle.

Next you're gonna tell me that Asian-Americans can write short stories in college classes that don't revolve around ninjas treading through the snow while on a stealth mission or OMG, sleeping through a test, but LOL, it was just a dream, and the test isn't until next week!
