It's my mom's birthday tomorrow and she booked a dinner at Meinl am Graben... imagine that the best supermarket (they have food that none of you have ever SEEN before, just in regular stock) in the world made a restaurant and hired some of the world's best cooks... I'll try to sneak in a camera. Shit's amazing. I had Beef Tartar for lunch there last year after exams and I'm still craving it :D

that's right! it was an affordable source of protein for people then. we're still doing it now. not "a" runny egg, but TWO! did you try it when you were here? it's usually consumed with a drizzle of dark soy sauce and white pepper. but i slurp it neat.

Yes I tried it! Not quite my cup of tea though. Even with the soy sauce and pepper I found it bland.

I much preferred the kaya toast and morning dimsum. :D

Breakfast from the other day

Felix those pictures from your dad's dinner are great. I am particularly fond of that 2nd pic, with the oasis of food encircled by delicate white froth.

ProfMonnitoff eagerly awaiting the pics from your dinner! Culinary espionage!

mum made a nice simple lunch - salad and roasted chicken wings

Felix, I need some help. I don't know any of the English names of the stuff I ate. It's something I have to work on, it's really embarrassing to be at a Restaurant where the menu is in English and have to ask "what's that?" all the time.

Either way, here's my report on the dinner at Meinl. My photography isn't very good unfortunately.

Something that my brother had. I really liked the presentation of this one. Too bad my picture doesn't capture the colors very well.

Been on a chicken rice quest. Methinks it's subconscious. Or random. What's a hypoteneuse?

This one was okay only... but had to queue up for 20 mins to order it.

rirawin! finally some proper food pics from you. the tomato (toh-MAY-toh) with cheese looks like it needs to find its way to my tummy.

jpgm the red bean pancake was pretty damn good indeed. we managed to stuff that down our throats after that noodles and meat.

valhalla it looks like there's been some serious cooking done at your place. nice job. both of you.

diamonds yay you're eating! that chicken teriyaki actually looks pretty decent lah!
