Yeah, i actually got the payperview when it was on....I was wondering why it sounded "cleaner"

but I still can't understand cochella. I think there are a lot of great bands, but nothing will every hold a stick to these years of lollapoloozas. Just the fact that it was a tour and not just one show proved why it was such an important event for music. To have that many caliber of bands committing themselves for the summer....Imagine cochella in every major city in the USA. I only went to '95, but man...there were so many bands I still listen to now from that lineup. Sonic Youth, Superchunk, Pavement, Elastica, Beck....etc.

1991, July 26

Main Stage: Jane's Addiction, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Living Colour, Nine Inch Nails, Ice T & Body Count, Fishbone, Butthole Surfers, Rollins Band, Violent Femmes.

[edit] 1992

Main Stage: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Ice Cube, Soundgarden, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Pearl Jam, Lush, Temple of the Dog.

Side Stage: Jim Rose Circus, Sharkbait, Archie Bell, Porno for Pyros, Basehead, Cypress Hill, House of Pain, Sweaty Nipples, Arson Garden, Seaweed, Seam, Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E., The Look People, Stone Temple Pilots, Vulgar Boatmen, Truly, Skrew, Tribe, The Authority, Samba Hell, Rage Against the Machine, Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder.

[edit] 1993

Main Stage: Primus, Alice in Chains, Dinosaur Jr., Fishbone, Arrested Development, Front 242, Babes in Toyland, Rage Against the Machine

Side Stage: Tool, Sebadoh, Cell, Unrest, Mercury Rev, Mosquito, Free Kitten, Royal Trux, Tsunami, Mutabaruka, The Coctails, Scrawl, Luscious Jackson, Genitorturers, Truly, Eggs, Girls Against Boys, Thurston Moore, Glue, Karl Hendrick's Trio, Hurl

[edit] 1994

Main Stage: The Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys, George Clinton & the P.Funk All-Stars, The Breeders, A Tribe Called Quest, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, L7, Boredoms (first half of tour), Green Day (second half)

Side Stage: The Flaming Lips, The Verve, The Boo Radleys, The Frogs (first six dates only), Guided by Voices, Lambchop, Girls Against Boys, Rollerskate Skinny, Palace Songs, Stereolab, FU-Schnickens, The Pharcyde, Shudder To Think, Luscious Jackson, King Kong, Charlie Hunter Trio, Shonen Knife, Blast Off Country Style, Souls of Mischief, Cypress Hill, Black Crowes

Several of the artists, including Green Day and Cypress Hill, skipped at least one Lollapalooza tour date in order to appear at Woodstock '94 instead. Nirvana was scheduled to headline but decided to pull out after Kurt Cobain's death.

[edit] 1995

Main Stage: Sonic Youth, Hole, Cypress Hill, Pavement, Sinéad O'Connor (first few shows; bowed out due to pregnancy), Elastica (replaced O'Connor, as did Moby for a few shows), Beck, The Jesus Lizard, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Side Stage: Coolio, Doo Rag, Possum Dixon, Poster Children, Yo La Tengo, Brainiac, The Coctails, Geraldine Fibbers, The Dambuilders, Laika, The Pharcyde, Tuscadero, Built to Spill, Helium, Redman, St. Johnny, Dirty Three, Mike Watt, Versus, Hum, Blonde Redhead, The Roots, Blowhole, The Zeros, Pork Queen, Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments, Sabalon Glitz, Psychotica, Patti Smith, Overpass, Moby, Superchunk, Beck (acoustic, generally)

he probably hasn't used tape since pretty hate machine....

ha i know, i was just using the old recording industry phrase for recording an album... people still say it, often actually. and barely anyone records to tape these days. one of those things, like calling CDs "mixtapes".

as for NIN, ok, so it definitely isn't Einsturzende Neubauten. but what Reznor did in terms of marrying pop structure, electronic dance, and 2nd wave industrial music at the time that he did was nothing short of groundbreaking. and, as a producer, the techniques he developed between 89 to 94 were at the extreme forefront of audio production.

Trent's a whiny bitch, yeah, but the whiny bitch has accomplished a lot if you look past the whining.

am i the only person in the world who thinks that trent reznor is a whiny over privileged cry baby...

so he has a couple of good songs...i remember being played pretty hate machine by someone calling it industrial...seriously it was not even heavy...or groundbreaking...

i guess the same as avant garde fashion when worn as a uniform...all money no style...

i feel like i respect NIN more than i actually do like them. Groundbreaking? I don't know. ahead of the curve? yeah.

I agree.

I have always hated NIN (everything other than Downward Spiral). I love industrial/metal/what have you, but fuck do I hate Trent Reznor. Their last album was the biggest load of shit ever. The singles were appallingly bad.

It blows my mind how you consider Muse to have one of the best albums of last year. Do i like Muse, not really, live they were decent. Not at all to bash, but I would have thought you would have liked NIN.

You're definitely not the only one, Hap. Personally, I think Pretty Hate Machine is a pretty terrible album. I like The Downward Spiral, but my bias is that I grew up being introduced to Nine Inch Nails by my more musically inclined friends, who grew up in that era of music so it was pushed pretty hard. He very well could always have been an overprivileged cry baby, but I like to believe there's something more behind it, just like I like to believe that maybe some avant garde fashion has something more behind it. It very well may not, but I like to think so.

On Coachella for Poly: nothing is ever as good as it used to be.

I was like 6 in 1995, so here's to looking back at what I missed.

Groundbreaking? I don't know. ahead of the curve? yeah.

definately not groundbreaking...the early stuff sounds like watered down jim thirwell...who had an incredible pop sensibility...

downward spiral has moments but seriously when he sings fuck you like an animal in closer...he sounds like he has never been laid and the lyricsare there for shock value...i mean if robert smith packs more raw sex into the opening of just like heaven you know that you are lightweight territory...

just like I like to believe that maybe some avant garde fashion has something more behind it. It very well may not, but I like to think so.

oh i agree there is something behind it...but there is nothing cutting edge about walking into the avant garde shop and coming out with an outfit...to then be arrogant about it is doubly foolish..

without a doubt it was all for strictly shock value. look at the breed he brought with him, ie. marylin manson. He's all shock value.....

I don't think Muse had one of the best albums of last year. Their previous albums were far better. That being said, they had a strong last album, but I can't say the same for NIN.

I can't believe you didn't like them live! Matt Bellamy has far more talent as a single musician than Reznor. The guy plays insane guitar and piano solos and has an unmatched vocal range.

Either way, "Hand That Feeds" was one of the worst singles of last year. I just can't get into their newer stuff. We'll see if they can redeem themselves with something new.

Don't get me wrong though, they do have some fantastic singles. I love "Hurt," "Starfucker," "Perfect Drug," etc.................

Seeing Neubauten live is quite an experience....

This video made seeing Neubauten one of my life's goals, along with one of the early ones of "Collapsing New Buildings" my friend showed me. I didn't really understand the song until I saw the video of them performing it, literally destroying a building with jackhammer and grinders.

Just wanted to clarify a few things. I banned red to show him that I will not tolerate insults, especially from a noob (has anyone ever seen me insult someone on these boards for how they dress?). Banning him had nothing to do with his sense of style (whatever that means to him). So he came to whine here, with his panties in a bunch. That's fine.

I setup SZ as an alternative to tFS, not as an alternative to SF. I wanted to focus on avant-garde fashion that has a certain creative meaning beyond just clothes, and not on models and celebrities, which is the unfortunate way tFS has been going (although it's still a very valuable fashion forum). I did not expect that many SF posters will also sign up there - I originally invited only one person from SF, darkanimal - the rest were from tFS, who happened to x-post on SF.

It is true, I can be harsh at times, but I stated on SZ at the outset that I don't have to be and I will not be politically correct, and I will steer the forum in a certain direction, that is all. I definitely do not mean for the forum to be intimidating, people are welcome to come there to share their views. If you don't like what you see on SZ, that's all right with me. Sometimes I myself do not like the way the discussion go there, especially when it starts concentrating on owning expensive clothes. That's why one time I publicly told one member that we are not there to fetishize pricey clothes, but to discuss creative aspects of fashion.

As far as NIN, I must agree with onemancult, The Fragile was an amazing record (those critics comments about being bloated is bullshit, the record has perfect continuity, each song falls into place), and the last good one from Trent. I don't listen to Tool, btw, not sure where you got that idea.

That's about it.

I browse SZ every once in awhile but most of the outifits on there are garbage. Lots of $$ but it's really obvious they bought their sense of style. So many of those people try so damn hard and look ridiculous. That anastasia girl looks like what all the teenage girls who shop at hot topic would look like when they're 30 if they didn't grow out of that phase. That's cool they want to push fashion forward but man are most of them(certainly not all, just some of them) full of themselves. I personally think supreme is stupid too, the other end of the spectrum over there isn't much better. Just more $$$. Creative clothing doesn't always mean weird and out there, most of the time something really subtle works too.

I grew out of NIN when i graduated. Not that it's awful or anything, my music tastes just changed. To each his own.

Are you even remotely able to validate any of this? Do you even attempt to understand the subject matter before you open your mouth?

I would just like to say that my favorite band of all time is Pop Will Eat Itself and that i flew to the UK for two days just to see their reunion shows a couple of years ago.

That is all.

i don't like downward spiral. i recently got it from the library, trying to overcome a severe NIN backlash (i was a big fan of pretty hate machine, but haven't heard it in 12 years or so), but found DS to be a silly record. reznor's vocals are overwrought. i recently saw a NIN live show on TV and it was horrible.

give me front 242 or mussolini headkick any day----though i guess, i haven't really listened to either of them in a decade or more.

and where exactly is the insult in this?

why do you have your panties in a bunch?

a dior tee is well over $100.

my backpack is cheaper than a dior tee.

i dont have to do any calculations.

all my shirts were either free or in the $20 range. everything you see isnt even half the price of a cloak poncho. let me pour bleach on your coat, then we can talk percentage.

is it because he used the phrase "panties in a bunch?"

is it because he proposed a hypothetical situation in which your coat is ruined?

these hardly seem like insults, however much of a "noob" he is on SZ.

i respect your desire (and right) to start and run a forum based on your own rules and regulations, but your actions belie your own adherence to them...

regardless of forum, if you're a dick you should expect to be treated like one. in this instance, though, red's not the one deserving of a flaming; you are.

oh, and is mr. reznor on the carrot top-sponsored washed-up celebrity steroid program or what?

How do you validate an opinion Mr. Italics? This is just like when really macho guys get called gay and they overreact a lot, nobody from SZ can actually present a tangible, valid explaination as to why their "sartorial perfection" costs such an assload, so people like you have to scream garbage with Plokhov's dick in your mouth and Altieri's dick in insert-other-orifice-of-your-choice-here.

I agree, yes its more high-end/nichee/avantgarde or whatever oriented and obviously way more brand focused, but that doesn't really concern what happened here..

very odd call.

Tsk, I expected better of Faust... this is ridiculous.

And just because people who post there are mostly into a different style doesn't meant that the forum is restricted to that style only.

i understand fully what youre saying, but i still dont think its right. its like if youre not good enough, or in this case, wealthy enough, you cant be a member of our forum.

and some other post. The irony is unbearable.

I do not post on SZ, though I do lurk there from time to time. I do not own items of clothing that cost "an assload", nor am I particularly a fan of Plokhov/LMaltieri/CCP/LUC/etc.

Regarding opinion : Having an opinion does not obligate you to voice it. A person who opens his mouth spewing drivel while hiding behind the protective veneer of "opinion" makes him no less a fool.

We wouldn't ban you for being a hypebeast, that is why you are still here. Faust on the other hand banned someone for not adhering to his standards of fashion. So quite honestly there is no irony in any of those posts. Your stupidity becomes more and more obvious after each time you post.

I believe you're referring to something along the lines that supefuture is the same way? the difference is that no one here will ban you for dressing different, in this case, the owner of the forum banned an individual for reasons many think were unjust. if you get flamed for your style, its not the same, thats up to the individuals posting on the forum, not the administration.

this you can avoid by using your own judgement. yes its all fashion/clothing, but every forum or community has some sort of a consensus, in superfuture's case it varies a lot more than in any others, but there still is one.

The reason for the ban wasn't a different style, but the fact that red dared to disagree with faust. IMO, it would be more acceptable and I could kind of understand it if he banned red for having a completely different style than he was going for with the forum, but he banned him because red called him out on his bullshit... somebody obviously can't stand being wrong.
