FYI- Radiohead absolutely killed it in Camden. Setlist could've been better but performance-wise they just went all at it. Sounds like they traded drum secrets with Burial; they jocked his steez on Climbing Up The Walls and it sounded amazing.

i thought it was just OK.

i am not so into seeing bands at these HUUUUUGE venues.

only my second time seeing them; i thought OK COMPUTER tour was more "flawless victory" but i admit it just could be me getting older and more ornery. i can't get used to people holding up their cell phones, taking digital pictures constantly, and the crowd, surprisingly, was really young. PLUS i hate being penned in at my seat. i would rather be crushed by the crowd, barely breathing.

^I saw that one in the paper this morning. Kinda wanna see Battles. But I'm going into NY on sunday... so bummer for meeeeeee

i dig some battles stuff, but the record as a whole gets a little boring after the first couple listens. I'm kinda psyched on ggd, but i've heard different things about their live stuff. we'll see.

You going to Aesop Rock?

gang gang dance are cool, but I don't think I'd be that interested in seeing them. Battles just seem really powerful live. Sorta my dream mathrock gig is like, Slint, Don Caballero, & Battles. Would be awesome.

btw been digging for a Specials song with the line

"lots of people, lots of smells"

help!

will help when Olympics are not distracting me from music.

EDIT:

thats not a Specials song, its by another amazing Two-Tone group called Madness

saw them last night here. they were good, but the crowd seemed pretty lacklustre and quite young too. seems the small amount of older material (ok computer, the bends) went over best anyway (although it seems this is very much a 'rock' town).

November 6 - New York, NY Terminal 5

November 7 - New York, NY Terminal 5

November 8 - Philadelphia, PA Electric Factory

November 9 - Boston, MA Orpheum Theater

November 11 - Toronto, ON Phoenix Theater

November 12 - Pittsburgh, PA Carnegie Music Hall

November 13 - Bloomington, IN Bluebird

November 14 - Chicago, IL Riviera Theater

November 15 - Minneapolis, MN First Avenue

November 16 - Minneapolis, MN First Avenue

November 19 - Boise, ID Big Easy

November 20 - Seattle, WA Showbox

November 21 - Seattle, WA Showbox

November 22 - Portland, OR Crystal Ballroom

November 23 - San Francisco, CA The Fillmore

November 24 - San Francisco, CA The Fillmore

November 25 - Los Angeles, CA Wiltern

Seeing the Drive-By Truckers on the Southern Rock Opera tour was instrumental to me wanting to start a band and play music again. That band is The Hold Steady. This tour brings it full circle, and it will be a pleasure and an honor to be able to share the stage with the Truckers. We're gonna have a really good time.
