what was naked like okonomi?

At some points very good, but generally tangential and indulgent.

limits of control was rad

I'd like to hear what people saw in Limits of Control.

i am not entirely sure what i saw in it, i am a massive fan of jarmusch so i was probably always going to enjoy it.

But I really liked the slow, meandering pace and how it kinda sets itself up in opposition to a conventional Hollywood hitman movie. I also thought the cinematography was pretty spot on.

Would be interested to see what other people thought?

On paper it seems like a movie I would enjoy: slow pace, highly stylised and lots of enigmatic characters. I usually take the "I don't need to work this out, just enjoy it" approach to those kind of movies but Limits of Control seemed to be at an awkward middle ground between decipherable and intentionally indecipherable.

I tried to post this yesterday but then superfuture crashed. Maybe this is a sign?

Anyway, Valentines day always wrecks havoc on my viewing habits, so this is what I watched the past three days.

Catching up on a bunch of films that probably won't be released in the States.

All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace, 2011 (all three parts shown together).

pretty interesting.

The Snowtown Murders, 2011

I owe this one entirely to SuFu. Wouldn't have gone to see it were it not for the posts here. So glad I did. Brutal but awesome film.

I understood after the movie that horses die of exhaustion. But yeah really good movie. A must see for any Monte Hellman fan.

freecat, when I was in school I had to do a presentation on The Shooting. Must have have watched that thing at least five times before I felt confident in my analysis. Great film.

Weinfeld, that BBC doc looks super interesting. I'll definitely be checking it out. I've had this on the docket for a while now and I think I'll finally get around to it tonight.

I didn't really like any of Jason Reitman's movies so far, but this one was surprisingly good and deeply disturbing in a weird way. Felt completely apethetic until it suddenly changed the point of view from Theron's character to the people around her and showed what a fucked up individual she really is.
