Cheap Cashmere scarves bought off the street problem

Hey guys, I never had a cashmere scarf before, I recently bought one off the streets in nyc for $10. A bright red one, however, I noticed the fabric on the scarf tends to stick to my clothing underneath, which causes an unslightly red ring around the collar.

Is this a normal occurance with cashmere scraves? I know you get what you pay for, but if I go out and splurge on a nice red cashmere scarf, will I have the same problem of fabric bleeding?

I have the same problem with a black cashmere scarf I got from Nordstrom. I wore it all around in NY and at the end of the day I had little bits of fabric on my neck.

No way is it cashmere, the cheapest, bottom barrel crap cashmere would still cost me $45 to make a scarf with. The decent/nice stuff would cost me around $100. No way in hell is that cashmere....it's probably acrylic....

unless you've found some sort of extra-dope scarf spot, what you actually bought was pashmina, and yeah, it can tend to do what you're saying it does because the fabric isn't exactly of the highest quality. couple that with maybe a jacket or shirt that is a little rougher in texture than the scarf and you'll have bits o' cashmere blend all over.

it's been said but it's pretty clear that you need to drop the required funds to get a quality scarf. once you do that you probably won't run into the sort of issues you get with any low quality item.

I had a cashmere/silk blend sweater from Banana Republic (real cheap) and it did the same thing. Buy something with a better fabric.
