from the list of schools you gave me earlier, here's what you wanna ask yourself. is it worth getting into those schools for you? Would you be willing to kill at a regular state school for a year before you transfer to another school? Transfer stats aren't usually as high as out the gate stats. I think you're smart to include the EC stuff, as it shows you're more than just numbers (and it could explain maybe why your numbers aren't as high as you want them to be). Make sure you let them know that shit was published. Hope that helps. GL

see, i have two safety's that i really wouldn't mind going too. one is in cambridge, the others on staten island, and i like them both a lot. the one in cambridge is more than happy to have me, and i could do a year there and transfer, but i'm just gonna hand everything in at the beginning of december and wait to see what happens. if i get into my top choice, then theres no question about the other schools. anyways, thanks for all the kind words poly, you're a cool guy. would rep you, but that amounts to nothing in real life.

Agreed. That statement, though not directed towards myself, was very comforting for the whole 'what if i don't get in' question thats been prodding the back of my mind. I'm more than willing to work my ass off at one of my safeties to get into u of c. That being said, I would much rather take care of it this year.

definitely. applying to 5 unis in the uk took me a total of maybe 3 hours, and 2 of those were for cambridge.

of course i have to travel there now for two interviews and what amounts to a slightly modified iq test, but at least there isnt so much shit to write.

you have time, but keep this in mind. When i was working applications, we'd get ~100 or so a day up until like the 15th of dec. then it slowly increases. I had a FUCKING day and a half off for xmas. worked on fucking christmas eve. that week in between xmas and new years, we got EASILY ~500-1000 a day up until the deadline and about a week after the deadline as well. It is in your best interest to apply EARLY!

This is great advice as well; I was under the odd impression that admissions offices wouldn't even look at regular applications until the regular deadline. You can thank my brilliant counselor for that gem. Upon further thought, there's no way colleges would make their spring deadlines if they just let it pile up until January. You've inspired me to definitely finish up my uchicago app within the next week or so.

Then I hear of friends at private schools in nyc that actually sechedule appointments for discussing their college lists. I'm lucky to see my counselor for a combined total of an hour over the course of the year. And when we do see them, they open no possibilities to out-of-state or even private. They simply expect everyone to go to Georgia State...
