I had all 4 taken out at one go with local anesteez, three of the toofs took about 1 minute each to take out, the 4th which was fully impacted, growing in sideways, took about an hour and 20 minutes, full on with two nurses with both of their hands in my mouth spreading mouth open, and dentist fucking chiseling at that shit like he was digging for gold. painful.

i havent been to the dentist since like 4th grade, so my teeth are jacked up. the last time i went i got hella traumatized so i never went back. i had been a bunch of times before that but it was a new dentist and he gave me the shot and was completely rough with it so i remember i was just crying like crazy and then he started laughing alot, which made it hurt even more, so after a while he started yelling at me to shut up, and that it didnt hurt. this same dentist did some shit to my brothers teeth too so i just have always had a bit of a fear of dentists.

lots of oatmeal and like soup. eat as few solid foods as possible for at least 2 days. the mouth heals fast, but it hurts like a fucker during that time.

my wisdom teeth need to come out this year, their fully impacted, so it should be quick, and relatively painful. painless? pulling teeth? doubt it.

yah you can get general ana for an extra 350USD. i was put under cuz i spazz really badly around tooth stuff and i'd rather save up and get put under for less than getting one tooth out. the place was kinda pricey, but i had less pain overall than most b/c of the drugs they gave our and how they dealt with my dry socket by placing a topical anaesthetic/painkiller into the empty socket every other day.

blargh.

edit: and this was my first time getting put under--it was pretty cool, just floated away, everything went black in less than 10seconds, then i woke up with all this shit in my mouth--no pain, but yeah... a little disoriented coz of the drugs.

I did have my wisdom teeth taken out (2) before the root grew though...so it was just a simple matter of cutting through my gum, and scooping it out.

now that I think about it I didn't even feel him cutting through my gum

I just made sure he gave me six more shots in the mouth then he was suppose to

my confession of the day, I was so occupied with my phone and chatting that I got on the wrong platform and instead of heading home after work, I found myself lost outside the city. I could have easily got on the opposite end and ride back home but I decided to explore the city.

Korean food in that area sucks, now I know why my friend reserves fast food chains for road trips...consistancy

Only time I've gone under was when they put pins in my finger.

i got general anaesthetic when i had my ankle surgery. afterwards, was in pain/fucked up as all hell. almost booted. came too, passed out etc. generally, i got through alright, but when they gave me a 200mg perc the next day i was beyond fucked. i was trying to watch the little tv (came out on one of those extend-o arms) and i changed to the discovery channel, and the program was on snakes, and they started spilling out onto my bed. at that point i was in too much pain/to far gone to deal so i just went to sleep. pretty crazy stuff.

my ankle still swells up a lot. such a pain in the ass (ankle)

Meanwhile everything else is good. I made it to work early all week despite having no home to leave from, dropped knowledge on a bunch of college kids all week and probably gave them some of the best advice they'll get and had groups of college girls all vying to eat lunch with me in the faculty diner, and think I was on the TV news last night, luckily in a SuFu-approved fit...

I kinda like not having a home. I tell people that being around me, life will never be boring, but trying to tie me down is like trying to embrace water.

A lot of dentists don't do general because of the medical risks to the patients (and insurance risks to them).

To be totally honest, I think people make a bigger deal out of the dentist than it really deserves. If you have a decent dentist you should barely feel the shots, and even if you do that pain lasts about 2 seconds. The only thing that hurt enough to really complain about was the block injection (where they basically numb the whole side of your face), that felt like an electric shock that went from my face to my toes when he hit the nerve. And when one of the teeth that was pulled wouldn't come out easily, the doc was yannking my head around trying to get that one out, which I didn't actually feel, but I knew wasn't good at the same time.
