BS United Oni Denim Pics

Received my Oni blues last week. Sized down to a size 29. They were one-wash and luckily fit perfectly.

The denim is certainly the most special of all my jeans. Much more slubby, uneven and coarse than my PBJ XX-005 black.

Only downside is that you find yourself feeling the denim everytime you wear them, making you look like some pervert touching yourself. But I guess it's becoming somewhat addictive.

Got my Oni Reds yesterday from Chute. Jeans are frigging baggy and the back pockets are huge, eventhough i sized 2 sizes down to a 29. But I know they should shrink down. I need maximuming shrinking so gonna try hot soak tonight (anybody know how how hot? Tried search button ane encyclopedia). Thing is I read on BiG website that it will shrinking in the length up to 2 inchs, so i got them chainstitched to 33. Now lookning at the forums again i they mite shrinking 3+ inches. I can deal with a 30 inseam, but nothing shorter. Omg first pair of japanese raw and im afraid i messed up already :(.

for maximum shrinkage you want it hot. can do a hot soak in machine which will work.. just dont add powder.

the leg will shrink in length so maybe you should have had them hemmed after you soaked them. if you are worried about this you could soak them in warm water in the bath first to see how it goes. then maybe resoak if you have room to play with.

Yeah. Thank god I couldn't get my Flatheads chainstitched when I got them from Chute. Will soak them before i go to NYC to BiG to get them chainstitched. Well planning to do bath tub soak for 4hrs. Will go medium hot. I can either end up with jeans that fit right, but are too short or too baggy and too long... But then i saw pic of some guy on MY NUDIE forum site hang jeans with weights tigh on the bottom to stretch them.

for max shrinkage, i'd personally just throw it in a HOT WASH with a WARM rinse. That way you'll guarantee that shrinkage after that is almost nothing. A 5 hour hot soak was still shrunk by a hot wash with my oni shoai.....you will see indigo loss, but Oni's are dyed well enough where it won't matter in the fading process later.

So 2.5 on cold? Maybe i should start with Cold first and see where it takes me. How long did u soak it for? Anything more then 3 inchs of the inseam and im screwed....Gotta play with it i guess..

Legs shrink more than the waist. I did a cold soak on the Reds and they shrank 2.5 inches. The legs and thigh will shrink, but will stretch back out real quick. Gordon at BiG actually adjusted the inseam on his own pair, making the thighs tighter.

Got my sz32 blues today, soaked for a total of about 2.5 hours, hot, changed the water once.

presoak

w- 35

inseam- 37

post (still damp, they might shrink a minute amount more by the time they're totally dry)

w-33

inseam- a few shades under 35

the texture is really amazing. I'm glad I didnt get the reds like i initially planned (way too baggy), I like just a tiny bit looser than a straight fit, and I think these fit nicely in between my lvc 47s and my (accidently) sized +1 rrds.

Did a warm soak for 3.5 hrs. Lost about 2 inchs from inseam of 33, so right now its sitting at a 31 - thank god. My jeans driied funny, so the button fly is kinda sticking out. Driving me nuts. I will soak them again. Jus out of curiosity, if i do a warm soak, will they shrink anymore since i did one the first time around? Will post pics tonight.

  • 2 weeks later...

any pictoral updates from oni owners?

Mine are getting hemmed, taking off 2 inches on the inseam. two weeks of a 35 inch inseam was too much, it kept making them ride up my waist, even after they softened up after the soak

I got around to taking some pictures of my Oni Blues, so here they are:

oni1.jpgoni2.jpgoni3.jpg

They're a size 28, which was kind of a gamble since I've never bought a pair of jeans below a size 30 before. Presoak, they were snug around the waist and I even emailed Gordon wondering if I could exchange them for a 29. He told me that the waist would stretch, as long as everything else fit properly. I stuck with them, and did a 2 hour soak; I started with hot water, and then let them sit in the cold water for the remaining time.

The waist was quite snug afterwards, but everything else fit fine, if not a tad loose, particlarly below the knee. I'm glad I kept the 28s, because I think the 29s might have been too baggy. Personally, I think they fit great, though; on the slim side, but not too slim, and certainly not baggy, either. The only bad thing is that I got them from BiG after the Levis incident, so the arcuate and tab were removed. I can see where the removed the stitching on the arcuate, however, and I am wondering if it will fade slightly different, which will perhaps still give a subtle effect.

Anyway, overall I'm extremely pleased with them.
