Received this in an email today, with some info around the exchange rate and product prices - looks as though the exchange rate is such that they have had to reduce the European / US prices, with effect from July 1st 上代改定値下げ(海外)決定.pdf2 points

@JDelage Amazon JP is always worth a try as lot of stores have a shopfront there and it makes the ordering process very simple. Shipping/duties calculated upfront just takes a bit of searching to find the item. Note, if you have an Amazon account/Prime account it works across most Euro countries but not the JP site you'll need to set up an account . It's a faff but worth it, most of my Beams Plus I get via Amazon JP. I've actually had refunds from them when the exchange rate has dropped between ordering and delivery!2 points

I imagine most FC fans are not into the brand for full on retro/repro cuts but perhaps some will find this of interest. I had picked up the 30th anniversary jeans from Standard & Strange back in November 2022. They were reasonably priced initially & then when a sale kicked in I decided to buy a second pair which are still unwashed/unworn. I'd been hoping the matching jacket would turn up, similarly priced at S&S but it never did. After seeing the price ($500, I think) on the FC site I decided to pass. Recently I got the bug to search & see if one might be available somewhere online, & found a size 46 at Son Of A Stag. The price was still high but with first time buyer discount it came down to where I couldn't resist. I noticed that the cardboard tags were different from those that had had been on the jeans. Also the jeans had come in a cloth bag emblazoned with "1946", while the jacket had no bag & was described as 1944-45. Consequently I was crossing my fingers that the jacket would be made from the same denim as the jeans, which I like a lot. Happily it turned out the denim is the same on both items. Not sure if my photos best demonstrate that , but to my eyes the look & feel appeared identical. I'm including a photo side by side with the Freewheelers 1944 jacket. The FC is a wider shape which is accentuated by the stiffness of the denim.2 points

@AlientoyWorkmachine aren't the SS the best summer jeans though?! 😉 Love mine too.1 point

Thanks @Geeman - I have used Amazon Japan in the past for books and stuff. Worked very well.1 point

Thank you! Yes, I used my wire cutters. I cut it from the inside of the jeans and then darned it with a plain needle and thread. Looks very DIY but I wear them with a belt all the time since they’re 1 waist size above my waist size, so doesn’t matter as much.1 point

I case you haven't seen it: https://www.instagram.com/p/C8qReq4vsc9/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link It's the "dull" version though.1 point

@super-thermite nice! Your patch is nicer than mine. Mine is blank. I removed the suspender buttons after two years of struggle and never looked back. They’re really nice jeans. They evolve really good imo. I think it’s about time someone opened a Moto thread. side note - I don’t think freewheelers carry anything remotely similar in width. wearing said jeans, yesterday1 point

Also got my pair recently, planning to do the same as Doc and wait a bit. Probably once it starts to cool off. But I might be tempted to start wearing them sooner.1 point

Those will be long gone by then I would expect. Aside from the regular stocked stuff, almost everything sells out pretty quick TBH. I only have the 147j, sport jacket and a few chore coats. The denim jacket is on the smaller end of the sizing range. Definitely don’t size down. I would suggest waiting to try on if you are going soon. 162 is longer cut, I can’t remember if it is boxier though.1 point

Sad news out of Japan as Toshikiyo Hirata, founder of Kapital, has died. One of the highlights of my trip to Japan was visiting Kapital shops across the Golden Route. I admired the brand’s aesthetic, but didn’t think it would fit with my personal style. While a lot of the stuff they produce is too wild for me, most everything they make is high quality. My wife and I had a blast trying stuff on and purchased a few of their tamer, more basic pieces. The man had a vision and his contributions to denim and fashion are undeniable. RIP Hirata-san1 point
