  1. I got so much satisfaction out of making that last pair of jeans that I told my brother I wanted to make a pair for him for his birthday. Been drafting the pattern the last couple weeks and finally got it where he wanted it. He's got a little bit more weight in his gut and thighs than I do so it was a good exercise in modifying patterns. Also bought this 1960s New Home (Janome) 532 zig zag machine off Marketplace for $50. It could hardly turn when I got it, so over a few days I doused it in kerosene a few times a day to de-gunk it. That did the trick so I oiled it up, put belt on it, and now I can do bartacks. It doesn't love going through belt loops but if you floor it it will get enough momentum to power through. Also some (admittedly poor) pictures of the denim my brother selected. He wanted a crosshatch slub so I found this stuff on Big Z. More updates to follow!

  2. More vintage Justin boots. These are a narrow build but not too snug. Love the heel height. Pretty fresh Vibram soles too.

  3. Colimbo Full Count 0105 TwoMonkeys The Colimbo House of Richeld sweat shirt has a boxy and relatively short vintage fit. The sleeves crease nicely and it has the Spalding like cuffs (not sure, what the term for that is).

  7. Here are some close-ups of my TCB 50's that I've worn since last August in rotation with my WH 1001xx. They are relatively slow fading, but some electric blue highlights are showing through in the slubbier and higher wear areas especially in the sunlight. Like the WH pair, the color of these is beautiful in natural light. The color of the front pocket stitching and back pocket corner feel truest to real life - my son was starting to fuss during these so I had to compromise on finding proper exposure and white balance on a few.

  8. I've been playing around with my macro lens to shoot close-ups of my son, so I thought that it would be fun to take some macro shots of my DD-1001xx 1947 out of the wash. I got these minimally worn secondhand last September. The color is really beautiful in the sunlight, although the crotch has seen better days after a couple quick repairs. Originally, I was a bit lukewarm on the pre-distressed leather patch and buttons, but they look pretty nice and fit in much better now with significant wear. Back pocket, front pocket, and belt loop shots feel closest to color in true life. \

  9. Here is the 232 post wash and dry. Fabric is still very stiff and relatively smooth with a small amount of coarseness by hand. Color has a grey cast. Size is 42. Pit-to-pit: 21.8" (5% shrinkage) Shoulders: 19" (12% shrinkage) Sleeve (shoulder seam to cuff): 25.25" (7% shrinkage) Length (back collar to hem): 24.2" (8% shrinkage) Sleeve length here makes me question whether I could make the TCB No.2 jacket work with 1.5-2" shorter half shoulder + sleeve length

  10. No denim today. But these cargo pants are made by Yamane. Obviously, the prototype was the flight equipment suit of the OG-107 era.

  11. My Denime 232 Type II arrived from Celluloid today. Here are the pre-wash measurements: Size: 42 Pit-to-pit: 23" Shoulder: 21.5" Sleeve (shoulder seam to cuff): 27" Body Length: 26.25" Some quick photos in the pre-wash state, including fit are below. I will update with post-wash measurements and more detail shots when I get a chance (along with some macro shots of my other jeans hopefully). Same thing happened to mine after a machine wash and dry - very warped and jerkied (actually not quite as bad as it looked at first glance)..

  15. Momotaro 0901 size 32, worn on and off since 2015 (when I had them tapered slightly). They’ve been my dog walking jeans for the last 2 winters and are now heading for the bin as the crotch is falling apart, having already been repaired. I’ve really enjoyed this pair and at 15.7oz, they’re the heaviest weight jeans I’ve owned.

  18. Must say the denim looks a very nice rich indigo colour... and nice drop shoulder on the jacket... and of course there will be all the fun with sizing we can expect from TCB... generating interest for the observers and cortisol for the participants!

  21. PSA on Grailed/ Reps/ getting screwed: DO NOT BUY FROM RC8X / David Ionita I recently bought a P23TS-CH on Grailed from RC8X who has tens of thousands of dollars worth of ridiculously priced ACR pieces on the site. We went back and forth for a while and finally came to an agreement on a piece I have wanted for a long time. I unboxed them yesterday and was really psyched for about 30 seconds, until I realized they are reps...mother fucker I have submitted a claim through PayPal and will probably also do so with my credit card. I just got a reply back from Grailed so hopefully something can be done there. According to PayPal the guy's name is David Ionita [real?]. His profile on Grailed says shipping from Hong Kong but the package actually shipped from Saddle Brook NJ with the return address as my address. Ultimately it's my fuck up for not looking at the photos with more scrutiny; now in the rear view I can clearly see that I missed details that are obvious. What got me is the exhaustive list of high end pieces he has with lots of photos, so I ASSumed [you know what they say about assume...] that this would be authentic. He also has a handful of good reviews for pieces that don't seem likely to be reps but who the F knows. He sold some P33-DS and SAC J6-011 which I can't imagine there are reps of but anything is possible Maybe he is just trying to slip a few reps in the pile and hope they go unnoticed. The rep list of differences in case it can help someone else [many of these are on a Reddit reps page but it recently went private...wtf]: - cuffs are some shit ass Lululemon garbage and not DS, also too short - missing vertical stitch line by the button at the fly - size tag is stitched through the tag....E would never do this shit - size tag is not thick and plasticy, it's much thinner material and most likely screen printed, also font is fading / scratched - cut is way off, waist is not a cinch down, it's like normal size - movement is restricted when trying to kick caps off of bottles, which is obviously the biggest problem - stitching on ribbon is not the same, ribbon is flimsy - pocket fabric lacks sheen found on the diagonal stripes of authentic items I am fuming over my mistake but more so on the fact that people are trying to pull this shit off. How do you sleep at night? What will you think on your death bed? Pretty sure he lurks here or is a member...help me out community...anyone know this guy? Aliases? I am open to an honest solution, I don' want or need to go to war. That said I have copied and pasted a very terse message into most of his 88 listings in Grailed. Copy and paste can be your friend. DAVID if you are reading this get your shit together and work with me. Which means: he refunds me and I send him his pants back. Or light them on fire. Overall, it sucks but I have conducted many transactions on Grailed and have a 97% happy rate so, eventually, shit happens. If anyone has input on the above, I appreciate your time. TL/DR; do not buy from RC8X, check details on a purchase with exhaustive attention to detail, reps are stupid.

  24. Tempo Design Store - Mastermade Goods | Est. 2017 Rue du Midi 11 Lausanne, Switzerland TempoDesignStore.com Women & Men: @TempoMastermadeGoods Home: @TempoDesignStore Monocle Magazine: Setting up shop in the Swiss Alps in November was a culmination of the travels of business partners Pablo de Pinho and Ana Deffarges (writes Claudia Jacob). The co-founders of Lausanne’s Tempo concept shop unearthed an affinity for craft culture while travelling around Brazil, Tokyo, California and Montréal, before putting down roots in the Helvetic city. “It’s rare to find lifestyle shops in Switzerland,” says De Pinho. “After getting so much inspiration living and studying across three continents, we knew that Lausanne was missing something.” The result is a selection of tasteful design objects from across the world, featuring items from furniture ateliers such as Bangalore’s Phantom Hands and Copenhagen-based Frama. There are also luxurious leather goods from Tokyo’s Hender Scheme and Taiwan’s Kamaro’an, as well as garments from Galicia’s Lichen Goods. Tempo sits at the foot of the mountains overlooking Lake Geneva and its ethos of slow living is effortless to embrace. tempodesignstore.com -> List of Brands & Designers

  25. Progress on my DD-1001XX 1947. Just an unbelievably good fit and feel on these, soon to be unseated by the DSB 1000XX possibly but these are very special, and only getting better. Unsurprisingly, in need of a preventative crotch stitch repair, but they’re looking great I think!

  27. Hope you all aren't sick of me yet lol. Stayed up past my bedtime last night finishing up all the sewing (other than the patch, waiting on that material to ship from an etsy seller). Tried doing rivets and buttons on the practice pair but was having trouble with those. Not gonna put any of those parts on this pair till I know I can do it cleanly. The waistband was the trickiest part. Was advised not to put interfacing inside so that it can stay pliable, but that made it harder to keep everything straight. After a couple unsuccessful attempts where the needle failed to catch the inside seam I ended up sewing down the inside seam allowance to the inside of the jeans and then pinned along the length of the waistband down the middle to keep the needle from missing the inside seam. Worked alright once I decided to just use the handwheel all the way around. Not ideal but it looks way cleaner than any attempt I made with the foot pedal. This was the only time I really got frustrated during the process, so not so bad in the grand scheme. Decided to do tucked belt loops because I love that detail on my Left Field pairs. Gives me something to put my keys on that won't pull the top of the waistband down. Next time I make a pair I will get a zigzag machine so I can do bartacks. Thought about hacking em with the buttonholer, but decided not to since the buttonholer foot wouldn't hold much fabric on the belt loops, so slippage might have occurred.

  28. This one however doesn't have a red tab and has some odd black stitching on certain seams.

  29. I've picked up some amazing no patch S506s. They are a bit different from each other but I have to say they are my favorite type 1 fit. Ignoring the common style choices of today's repros. It's short. Utterly boxy.
