no photo policy at art show = no shots of real art fart. only thing good there anyways were these artists and this craftsman. all-in-all wonderful day with beautiful cool-ish weather 55-65 degF. and, nothing better to seal young love than some slow-cooked smoked meat.

drove up to nana and papa's in sacramento to hang out with some of the family for the day

my nana and papa live in the same house that my mom grew up in. before they settled down my nana lived in Michigan while my Papa was all over with the Navy, they moved to Sacramento way back when and had their family in this home

wearing my freshly washed (de-pizzasauced) crate vs farinelli's collab jeans

grabbed my seeds and went for a walk around the neighborhood. my nana and papa's neighborhood is my favorite... its so nice. real cool houses and it was a beautiful day yesterday

when i was little i would get going as fast as i could on my bike and feel like i was launching into the stratosphere off of this little bump in the sidewalk. it seems somehow less gigantic these days

walking about a block from my nana and papa's takes you to the American River and the bike path. i spend a lot of time out here on my bike with my papa... not so much as i used to because my papa had a real bad heart attack last year and he can't get much exercise done

there's the main bike path and then there are tons of these offshoot dirt paths. i ride these all day sometimes... didn't bring my bike this time since i was only there for a little while and just wanted to spend time with nana and papa.

this is the spot where my dad first taught me to fish way back in the day. we still throw the lines out here from time to time... haven't caught anything in the last 13 years or so though.

behind me is the remains of a fort my cousin and i built when we were 12 or so. some other kids added onto it and used it for a couple years but now the branches and boards have been taken to build other little things in this meadow. i ain't mad at em

this is me and my cousin's favorite spot out by the river. i don't think i could count how many summer days we've spent out here over the years. the second picture is my attempt at capturing my favorite part about it... the tree branches fall over the water just right and there is a little cave, maybe 6x8ft. we just sit our chairs in there in the water and hide from the world. my uncle said he and his friends did the same thing growing up here, but back then the branches didn't cover it totally like they do now

horses are allowed on a lot of these trails. sometimes i forget until i roll through a pile of horse shit the size of my head

took the path back home. it's a cool path, lots of little dips and turns and windy spots through the trees. i love it out there

theres a bunch of trees like this in my nana and papas neighborhood. this one is what we always played on cause it's nextdoor (thats my nana and papa's house on the left edge). when we were 14 my cousin pushed me off it but i caught him and pulled him down too and he broke both his arms. he looked so sad with 2 casts on hahaha

the picture on the right is me circa 2001 and its in my papa's wallet. until i gave him a picture of my formal date and i yesterday that was the most recent pic of me he had for whatever reason... he's been telling people "this is my grandson, but he doesn't look like this anymore" for the last few years

my papa's workbench. this is where i built my first thing... turned a couple pieces of wood, nails, and a hammer into a little ramp for my hot wheels cars with my papa. it's in his office now

nana got a new Pendleton wool jacket. this workwear trend is getting out of control

my favorite room in my nana and papa's house is their porch. if i ever build my dreamhome its gonna have a porch just like this on it

this is me with my nana and papa. im old enough now to realize that they aren't gonna be there forever and it scares the shit out of me. im tearing up as i type this now... last year after my papa's heart attack i didn't know if he was gonna make it to see me graduate high school or turn 18 or anything like that... it worries me so much. my papa is my hero. ive never met a better person... he's a retired Navy Captain, he's read the entire encyclopedia and seems to know something about everything. i love him. time like this that i can spend with him is more special than ever these days

the other end of my family... this is my little cousin celeste. we aren't as close as she is with my cousins cause they all live in Sacramento and im about an hour away so I don't see her as much. it kinda makes me jealous, i've never had a little kid to really be instrumental in the life of. and i want to

Yestrdya was wash day. SDA looking disgusting.

Ive' mentioned this soap before - my mum turned me on to it, she used to scrub white shirt collars with it to get them sparkling white. It works brilliantly for spot-washing jeans cuffs and other bits before a full on wash.

Lots of indigo from the SDA, even tho it was only the cuffs and watch pockets I'd washed. Lots of the blue collected in this mug. I remember ringring saying you could paint indigo on your face, or drink it, and it wasn't harmful. And this is vegetable indigo, right? So I tried drinking some. Tasted of soap. Yech. Made me feel sick.

Today I'm in my editing bunker. No photos necessary.

But here, for those who know him, is the legendary Gerald, who arrives at yer house on a scooter with his clippers and scissors in a brick-coloured canvas bag, wreaking his magic on the nipper. Nipper wears H&M selvage and a weird rubber shroud; Gerald wears thrift store Evisu. We'll see his LVC201 soon.
