Today we got up and grabbed some doughnuts at Kips Doughnuts

Then we drove down to Cochiti Pueblo to go hike the easy little loop around the Kasha Katuwe Tent Rocks area. We also went down the slot canyon path. This area is really amazing and looks so different from everything in the surrounding area. I would have taken pictures of the pueblo as well, but photographs are prohibited in most of the pueblos.

Then we decided to go to Bobcat Bite. This is a burger joint that only has 9 tables and a counter. It's been rated as the best hamburger in the USA by a bunch of different restaurant magazines and the NYT as well. The food is all natural and the burger is ground fresh daily from high quality meat. It's also cheap: Lunch for 2, $25. You almost always have to wait for a seat. We only had to wait 10 minutes because we went in-between lunch and dinner.

I ordered a Green Chile Cheeseburger with Bacon. Classic New Mexico hamburger. The side was Home Fries, no french fries here. I ordered my burger rare, because the beef here is so high quality that it really is damn good that rare. Yum!

After this I went home and got ready for work... and unfortunately I can't wear jeans to my job.

I hope everyone had a wonderful day!

Was feeling kind of depressed today, so I decided to do some man stuff, just pottering around to take my mind off it.

This tool shed/work bench out on the deck was stuffed to the ceiling with extra tiles, carpet offcuts, houseplant pots and all kinds of crap. It never got cleaned up after my fiancee moved in here. So I cleared it all out.

dscn0247o.jpg

Then I made a pot of coffee.

dscn0256.jpg

And retreated to my new man-cave to listen to some depressing 80s British music.

dscn0261p.jpg

This storm had been gently rolling in all day. My point and shoot has absolutely zero manual control, so I couldn't do it justice. It looks like the edge of the earth when a storm settles in and blankets the Sound.

dscn0253m.jpg

Almost horizontal rainfall is awesome!

dscn0255r.jpg

Edit: No denim vis because crotch bulge was out of control.

This thread is blowing up. So happy every time I read any of our "regular" posters... And all of you new posters to this thread are really killing it too. Zissou. You've had a hell of a time with that tour!

Off on my regular East End jaunt with the nipper; Brick Lane, Hacknet and Columbia Road

The scene changes every week. New graffiti on this 18th centry shopfront. I would guess this is a little old Jewish taylors shop.

IMG_0900.jpg

On Brick Lane itself, the 'new' vintage stores blend into the old ones. Top photo is a shop in Cheshire st, with plenty of old coats, scarves, Barbour jackets, tweedy stuff. On the stalls themselves, you can still buy British-made working boots for £25-40, including Doc Marten styles. Lower photos are Beyond Retro. Woolshirts, Big E jacekt, with homemade print on the back, £45, a good price in my book. Wool shirt start at £25. THe stuffed heads sadly aren't for sale

Need to wash the cuffs on my SDA today. So it\s 1947 LVC, LVC jacket, trickers and some ENglish scarf whose name I forget.IMG_0903.jpg

A little warehouse opposite the Truman brewery on Brick Lane has a few new dealers. Lots of interesting or kitsch stuff. Check out the Danish cocktail cabinet; a bit pricey though, at £500. IMG_0924.jpgIMG_0925.jpgIMG_0926.jpg

IMG_0930.jpg

There's a glass-frotned clothes and food market just up form the Truman Brewery. Often has good vintage stuff; I liked this Belgian shirt from the 30s. £25.

IMG_0944.jpg

It was a good morning for the nipper. One stall had a set of mililtary knapsacks, lovely olive fabric and leather hardware. All at £25-35. He went up and offered £15. They tried to get him to take amore modern camo one: "No, that's too big, I want that one and this is all I've got." I'd taught him the negotiation technique of then keeping quiet, till they give in. They gave in.

ROund the corner at Son of a Stag, Drapers Walk, they have three Union Speicla up and running, Kiya dropped in recently, Rudi reckons he's a nice guy. I'm sending Rudy the details of an eBay auction for a Draper X-3 loom. I'd LOVE to see one of those up and running in the shop!

Over to Columbia Road again. Forgotten what this shop is called, but it's a 50s-style make-up parlour. I find it very erotic staring in that window at all the assistants, in their starched pink linen. Drool... er, just as an aesthetic experience, I mean.

IMG_0950.jpg

Our fave sweet shop, Suck and Chew. I had something different from sweets in mind today. IMG_0951.jpgIMG_0952.jpgIMG_0968.jpg

As usual, I needed a hound shot for Lendo. This is the best I could come up with. Some of these dogs haven't been looking after themselves. IMG_0961.jpg

A friend, Ben's, shop. Lots of interesting shop fittings and stuff. I asked him to lend me his ears. He said he could, but he'd much rather I bought one. Or an eye.IMG_0954.jpg

I don't like this stallholder, but I liked his mail bags. Spendy, though, £35. IMG_0957.jpg

Another favourite haunt. One of the flower stalls on Columbia Road. We've been coming here since the nipper was born - I'd get a lie-in Saturdays, the g/f would lie in Sundays, the market was agreat place to take a baby at five or seven in the morning . Now those guys have become almost family friends. When we got married, they gave us a van full of flowers and wouldn't take any money for them. IMG_0960.jpgIMG_0963.jpg

Couldn't afford the roses, today, though! But the Hyacinths went down well. Have a great day.

Well, went on a 10 mile hike yesterday in the snow. great time out with my old man. really flat light and it was snowing on and off like a mofo, so none of my pics were really any good but hey, documenting the adventure was still fun.

right,my turn now.took the kids out again to have more fun in the snow:

4355928993_c2050bb0e8.jpg

as there are only 3 weeks left for me in the FC-contest i have to catch up:

4356675718_32708b6d23.jpg

back at home the wife allowed me to do a fitpic of her new Strongholds:

4355932547_8b9bbfe836.jpg

than it was time to help my daughter with her costume for the fancy-dress party:

4355933471_97e5d01a4c.jpg

(i told her that the mask sits upside down, but she prefers it this way)

after they left i jumped into the car to see my mate Hans.

4356680062_c3f8182621.jpg

i stole this motiv from Lendo, cheers, old chap!

this man is a german reggae-legend.he collects for over 30 years, runs a small label and is writing the monthly reggaecolumn for the Rollingstone magazine:

4356683970_1b97d2a3ed.jpg

some of his treasures:

4355937161_9a8bedd479.jpg

4355936231_c6412e1ec7.jpg

above records are not in my pricerange, but i had to pick up my monthly dosis of vinyl anyway:

4355934991_789373deb0.jpg

Hans is a great guy,not that he was my best man at my wedding,he also gets me all the stuff i need but not having the time to look/search for.

he used to run different recordshops over the years, but modern times forced him to do mailorder only buisness for assorted customers.

funny sidenote is,that some of the best reggae reissues are made in Japan now.

I rep'd you for this but I fear I may have made a mistake.

You say you were on the way to see your reggae-loving friend. The photo says you are on the way to rub out someone who has not come up with the money for a drugs deal. The shades say you are going to torture him at some length, maybe with zissou's nail gun, before you perform the coup de grace.

Your wife and children seem nice, do they know of your double life???
