edc [everyday carry] shaved my wife

did anything besides the handles get dyed? wouldn't it be easier to take it apart and just do the handles?

I had it hanging from the chip clip so mostly only the handle was submerged, I don't think that was even necessary, the dye wiped right off the metal pieces.

does the dye ever rub off? or ....can the indigo from ur jeans stain that knife?

When it was white it was pretty stained, I scrubbed it pretty good before dying it.

I'm been thinking about hooking the keys on with the light and dropping the Gerber, but I don't want to keep all that stuff in my back left pocket next to the torch. Loose keys are just too noisy, and having them on the hook or biner makes them easy to access.

I like the Gerber because it is super light and really sharp. I find that I like have a separate blade a lot of the times when I'm cutting fruit, opening boxes, etc and I don't want to unhook the keys from the caribiner on the Skeletool.

i got this as a comment from a reader on my edc tumblr, how do i respond!? i tried to explain to him that i dont like the hype associated w/ atwood but its 7am and i dont think i did a good job:

"Hey man, I really like your site and I'm going to keep a close eye on your updates. But I have to ask, why all the Atwood hate? I know they're kind of expensive, and they don't all have a hundred-and-one uses, but they're beautiful, and made by hand by a real craftsmen! Maybe it's just an aesthetics thing for me, but I'd rather have two attractive tools than one that can do a lot, and look fugly."

@brane - I don't like the atwood tools because to me they are not 'tools' or at least not good ones. If I need to take out a nail, I'll her my cats paw, crowbar, or hammer (all of which i have in my car ). It's also a matter of size vs utility. I'd rather not carry it because it doesn't fit into my EDC, and I find the usefulness lacking. But that's just my opinion.

i've bought two atwood tools and i gotta agree: they're beautifully made, but i couldn't do shit with them other than really small repairs. the knives would probably be the best usage wise imho, but with the metwrench i got, i couldn't get any leverage to really tighten anything.
