LA for someone living in the suburbs

I'll be working in/near LA for the summer, and I've got a free apartment in Thousand Oaks (white ass suburb)

what's there for me to do in/near LA for 8 weeks in july-sept?

note that i fucking hate LA because i'm prejudiced already and urban sprawl sucks.

Eh Thousand Oaks is not that bad per se. It's still relatively close to West LA. Traffic will be a nightmare, have fun with that. Can probably do a meetup with you sometime in July, show you Mexican joints (be prepared to drive for over an hour though)
