um, just cosigning on the shure jawns. Grados are good too, but shure is stepping their earbud headphone game up like whoa.

i use the e2c for my Ipod and the e5c to DJ. both are great.

W.r.t. to the Grados, just remember that they're open headphones...and so ppl around will be able to hear what you're listening to...something to consider, depending on where you're going to be listening to your music....you might get some dirty looks at the library, for example..

Yeah, Grados are great but are not made for portable use. At all. Not only will you piss everyone off around you (they're basically portable speakers -- your music WILL be heard by everyone in a 25 ft radius), you'll damage your hearing turning the volume up loud enough to hear them (since they're open, that means all outside sound leaks in, as well as all your music leaking out).

There are plenty of modifications out there to put foams on grados that cancel the sound better (and make them more comfortable), but yea, they're definitely not made for portable use.

I have the etymotic ER4P (forget the exact price but about $300), and like them, but find they transmit mechanical cable noise a bit too easily.

btw, if you're thinking of the shures, check out their new gaming line..it's essentially the same e2c-e4c lineup, but in black and with short cords (which are great for if you have remotes, etc for my mp3 player)

^^ i picked up my pair at circuit city - but most electronics chains should carry them. great quality and they don't break the bank.
