Dos and Don'ts of Layering

What have you seen people layer before that definitely doesn't work? Or what have you tried or wanted to try but aren't sure looks good?

I don't know how I feel about layering hoodies over hoodies, and I don't know what the hell can go on top of a cardigan besides a jacket

I like to wear a tanktop over a sportcoat, for a nice mix of casual and dressy.

But what I really enjoy is layering pants. A cropped, baggy trouser over some tight jeans gives off a really steezy vibe that can not be matched.

I'm not gonna lie, I do that - but I don't think it looks the best. I do it because sometimes I have to.

there's a guy in my university program who refuses that. (although caucasian) he doesn't look italian, but nearly everyday last term he wore a double layer of colourful striped polos from what i'd call american beach brands (like american eagle, hollister, abercrombie & fitch, etc.). and today he seems to somehow evolved to wearing a very ugly pair of evisu high-tops =/
