Sugarcane jeans

thank you for your answers ringring - this hawaii denim sounds like something i'd like to add to the collection at some point!

i'll pose one more question if you don't mind - to satisfy my curiosity of indigo:

only today i took a look at the nudie veggie indigos and i was suprised at the end shade. it doesn't seem indigo at all, but rather a green-cast ultamarine. other veggies(pics) i've seen are far darker. indigo is supposed to be at a wavelength between blue and violet. would you know why the nudie looks this way? i've been told that indigo carmine can produce a saxon blue. or perhaps its only been dipped a few times - something which i somehow doubt considering the pricepoint?

I have on question concerning the Sugarcane Hawaii. It seems there are different models with diffrent prices but could someone point out the differences please.

The models I'm talking about are these

I've tried to translate the text but my japanese is really bad and online translators aren't very accurate.

Thanks

The first one is a natural indigo model, and is in 'rigid' (dry unwashed) state. The denim also incorporates Sugarcane's blend of cane fibre and cotton.

The other two are in a 'one wash' (ワンウォッシュ) state, with normal indigo. It's not too clear but the second one might be made of normal cotton denim, rather than the fibre/cotton mix.

so i got a pair of these the other day. I've been buying some japanese standards but the color of these caught my eye and had to get them. the ATTENTION to detail on these are insane. lined back pockets coarse cotton pockets, the whole nine yards..dont even really care if these will fade. the color is SO nice already

got my first sugarcane compliment the other day while i was looking at jeans at jeffrey's in the new york's meatpacking district. they sell premium stuff like ernest sewn, diesel, etc. anyways, the jeans salesman said, "hey, those look like levi's but the cut and the color is better!" i explained to him the whole 501 repro thing and he totally dug it. he was impressed the weight of the fabric, etc. anyways, i hope he looks into to.

The jeans salesman at Jeffrey's...

One of the guys who works there -- or used to -- was a fellow denim lover (can we make denimphile a word?). We got into a long discussion about raw denim, and evidently he's got a small stockpile of old, raw Helmut Langs that he's been sitting on.

He actually looked just like Kiya, except white, and even more slight.

Minya: "Can someone tell me what material these persimmon Sugarcane jeans are? They're 50% cotton, 50% ... something else??"

It's Sweet Sorghum, otherwise known as Sweet Millet or Sugar Millet. It's a type of grass grown all over the world for making a molasses like syrup and animal feed. The Sugarcane jeans that feature this fibre have a faint sweet smell and may have occaisional fibrous-woody tuffs poking out of the fabric. I think Sugarcane also claim that it's good for your skin!

I have a pair of the 'persimmon' dyed Sugarcanes. The brown is lighter, and they sport a red selvedge that seemed more noticable in the picture but in real life is a more subtle detail. They are a classic fit, and the first two or three times I wore them I pitied my skin. The fiber does have what look like a few little snags, and in combination with the back pocket, looks completely appropriate. They fit my wardrobe beautifully, and I never see anything even close to the brown selvedge denim here. I might as well take a couple pictures while I'm at it:

They're a beautifully streaky brown that the pictures don't do justice.

those brown jeans are lovely. I wonder how they´ll look with wear..

I've had them since September and wore them constantly for a time. They've been washed three times. The strange thing is that this is what they look with normal wear. If I had a job where I got my hands dirty, things might be different.

This is a plug for Mil-Mil Milwaukee it is a great store and they ship international and the staff (mario) is friendly and easy to deal with. A good place to pic up canes for a pretty decent price and they ship pretty quick as well. Plus you don't have to be hella tight or a holla back girls to get a good deal from him ;).
