Not really. I love Lanvin and have for quite some time, it's just not until now I have been able to even 'think' about being able to afford it. But to be honest, they're clothing is what I enjoy WAY more than the footwear.

The Lanvin jokes are getting kind of old though...I mean when Lion took the time to bump every conceivable Lanvin thread with one liners...I think it's done. This is what provoked my last, sarcastic post.

serious Q, is the Lanvin stuff at century 21 the good stuff (Elbaz) or stuff that's from before he started designing? There's lots of it (still overpriced IMO) and they always seem too loose-fitting for me so I've never tried them on, anyone know the deal with the stock there?

I was looking through a recent Barney's catalog, they had a suit by Lanvin in it, I think I liked it the best out of all the ones they showed. Just my two cents.

Barney's sells their Lanvin suits (maybe just the made-to-measure program?) on the same floor as other top-line sartorial companies like Kiton, Isaia, et al.

It's strange seeing Lanvin sneakers on the designer floor and then going up to see their suits with the sartorial brands. I don't see other companies casting a net like this. Many shoppers who buy Kiton and Isaia consciously avoid designer brands. Something about Lanvin allows it to be high-end streetwear and also high-end sartorial, all without trying too hard.

What makes me laugh about Lanvin is that the label was absolute shit from a "marketing and hype" perspective from as early as 2001 and basically aside from the higher end couture would license their name ala Pierre Cardin to whoever and whatever, such that it was never on the same level as Gucci, Prada, et al. It was only in the last few years, they pulled a "Burberry" and bought back all their licensing agreements, upped-their price points, re-branded their image, etc. They basically did a very good Gucci/Burberry turn-around. The current young-school boy Lanvin aesthetic doesn't really appeal to me but that's a personal preference.

Glad someone said it. Shit is being hyped. Although there is some good stuff coming through a lot of members are speaking as if it never took a dip.
