High Fashion Mountaineering Boots...

Recommended Posts

Doc..

Those are three different versions of exactly what I'm looking for. Are those available state-side or am I gonna have to jump through some fucking hoops?

Probably not available stateside at all. I wasn't able to find much on any of those brands/boots. I think you'll be jumping through hoops and breaking banks to get your hands on any of them.

All of those, along with a bunch for the Russell Mocs I posted, I found here:

http://www.rakuten.co.jp/explorer/

Enjoy.

Sent out a quote request for the following shoes:

http://www.j-suplex.com/vol3fw-big/b-boot.htm

and they quoted me for $300 plus shipping. It's a premiere country oxford (http://russellmoccasin.com/shoes_sport_oxford/sport_premiercountryoxford.html), which goes for $228. I had asked for what additional cost to the base price of the shoes would they generally charge, but didn't give me any info besides what's above.

those boots look alot like some version of the quoddy grizzly boots I mentioned in this thread. They might also be yuketen boots, which are made by the quoddy company under an other name and brand for the japanese market. See www.yuketen.com.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they stock Yuketen at Barneys? Or am I thinking of something else that just looks like them.

I have no idea if they stock yuketen at barneys, cause I'm not from the US and have never been at barneys. I just know that yuketen boots are made by quody.:)

Good stuff, Tim. Wonder if they'd be cheaper if we did a group buy. But that isn't bad - probably cheaper than getting a pair from JP.

I'd like to get another pair of Safari's, or mid-Safari's.

Where did you send your request? I haven't looked on their website - is there more info on there?

I also never noticed the sale list on their site - didn't see anything on there for me, but will be checking back on that.

doctorgnar sent the quote request to their general e-mail: [email protected]

Yeah, keep checking the sales list. I've gotten a pair through there already. They also do full refunds for sales items.

^^ So you want the boot Red Wing made popular but not the faint imprint that will more then likely be mostly covered by your jeans? I would suggest getting over it, the branding is about as subtle as you can ask for.

In any case I'm not sure who would make a similar boot. Russel does there fair share of moc toes, but nothing quite like that.

there is no question that your jeans will cover that logo...

and, does anyone know what i should use as far as caring for those same redwings but in the regular leather?

I've had these for years. They're as mountaineering boots as there can be and don't cost a fortune. Hanwag Grunten.

Those Russells are so nice (but they wouldn't last in the mountains :) ).

Anyone who owns a pair of Danners care to comment on sizing?

I'm on my second pair of Mountain Lights....I think they run pretty true to size.

Does anyone know Fracap's contact info? I really love thier boots and want to seee if i can order from them and send a foot outline into them for sizing. I think I found thier phone number/fax on a euro whitepages site but I don't speak italian... Might try to send them a shoddy fax in bad italian, but i don't even know if its the right people.

opinions?

def ill. I sent danner an email about getting these in the US... I've only found them in japan and the price is a lot more than domestic prices for mountain lights. No reply as of yesterday but I hope they can get them for me since they are made domestically in oregon.

the danners that are being quoted are not available directly from danner either at their factory store or online. they are limited releases made by danner but not sold by them.

the boot that boot is based on is the mountain light II, which you can buy directly from danner.

the tan suede ones look great too... The black boots with those red laces would look even better than with the stock laces IMO.

I'll post up the email if I get one back from danner. If I have to get them from japan, I don't think its gonna be easy at all finding my size (US 11.5/12)... A lot of the stores seem to only carry size 11 at the biggest, usually 10.
