You could definitely dye/stain the leather to black... Wouldn't even have to take off the colour first.

as they get worn more the straps will darken some in colour, obviously nowhere near to a black though. as far as i know shes never put an all black one out, but once a black with dark(ish) brown straps, that was less 'piratey' with the top strap being normal size and the middle two straps attatching differently

no black on blacks. i saw a diy pair before, not done well, looked ropey, but as diamonds said, a bit of good quality stain would make them look perfect.

actually i painted my viv bondage boots from the original green/ mid brown to a black/ mid brown with speedball
